I was unable to attend the Mtn Craft Film Festival, which was a real loss for me, because I see this festival at the beginning of something special. I wish the best for them and hope to participate again in the future.

I had low expectations going to the Mountain Craft Film Festival - mostly because it's pretty new (in its third year) and obviously - a bit off the beat and track. But I was pleasantly surprised! It was very well organized - and they made it fun with both the screenings, workshops and little networking events. Focusing on Appalachian themed films was also a wise decision - it gives the festival an identity. Seeing the series of Appalshop films was a treat. Also you could NOT beat having your filmed in the historic Robinson Grand theater. Hopefully as their reputation builds, the festival will develop more of an audience. LIke many festivals, it's a struggle to get people (non filmmakers) to turn out. Right now Mountain Craft is a hidden gem. But I'm confident it will grow. If you have an Appalachian themed film, definitely submit and consider attending.

  • Unfortunately I could not attend in 2024 when they selected my film, but hoping to attend in the future as this one is only a state away. Their communication and social media presence was great!
