Moving Parts Puppet Film Fest brings the best of puppets on film to Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. The festival programme includes live action puppet films as well as stop motion puppet animation. The stop motion night at Moving Parts: Newcastle Puppetry Festival has been a sell out event since it began in 2017 and we are excited to now make this into a unique competition showcasing the very best of puppets in film from around the world.

Selected prize wining films will be screened to a live audience and featured on social media. Film makers are invited to attend screenings and networking events associated with the film festival. Laurels for winner will be provided.

Rules & Terms

Eligibility criteria please read:
This is a film festival celebrating hand made puppets and puppetry. Films can be live action or stop motion animation. Only animations and live action short films featuring puppets will be considered for this festival.
Films/animations must be shorter than 15 minutes run time.
Submissions must be no older than 4 years before the festival date.
Films in any language will be considered with subtitles provided in English.
If chosen your film will be screened in front of a live audience, you must have the correct permissions for image and audio usage.
You will be responsible for sending any requested supporting materials such as stills for the film for social media and event advertising, if needed.
If you are unable to supply a screening copy of your film 10 days before the screening event your film will be withdrawn from the festival.
