ADF's Movies by Movers invites applications for its first commission award. One artist (or team of artists) will be awarded $750 for the creation of a new screendance work, which will be automatically included in the 2021 ADF's Movies by Movers film festival offerings. Announcement of the winner and presentation of the award certificate will take place during the July 5th screening of the 2020 festival. Emerging artists are encouraged to apply!

To apply:

- Upload an up to ten minute film sample to FilmFreeway. Your sample can include up to three excerpts of previous projects, or a complete short film.

- In the Overview section of your FilmFreeway project, include a 300 - word proposal for your new project, including a brief description of concept, estimated timeline to completion of work, and an explanation of how funds will be used (paying dancers and/or crew, post-production, space rental, etc.). Funds must NOT be used for equipment purchase.

- In the biography section, please include a short general biography, your experience with screendance, and how the commission award will benefit your development as a screendance artist. Why is this award important to receive at this point in time?

Rules & Terms

- To be eligible to submit, artists must be 18 years or older, and live and work in the United States.

- The selected artist or artist team must complete their project by April 30th, 2021.

- Artists must include an ADF's Movies by Movers logo (provided upon completion of film) in the credits of their project and the following language: "This project was made possible in part, by an ADF's Movies by Movers Screendance Commission Award."

-Artists must agree to screen their film at the Nasher Museum of Art in Durham, NC as part of the ADF's Movies by Movers Film Festival.

- Artists must agree to provide ADF's Movies by Movers with two stills from your film, a 30-second trailer, and a short statement about how the commission award contributed to the completion of your project for the purpose of marketing your 2021 screening event at ADF's Movies by Movers.

- Artists must provide a short report of how funds were used in advance of the 2021 screening.
