Welcome to the Momoxca International Fantastic Film Festival, a unique event that celebrates the magic and creativity of fantastic film in the beautiful Milpa Alta town hall.

Momoxca International Fantastic Film Festival was born from the passion and desire to bring fantastic cinema to the community of the Milpa Alta. Aware of the lack of access to quality audiovisual productions in this area, we set out to create an event that would bring together the best of international fantastic cinema.

Momoxca International Fantastic Film Festival is an opportunity for emerging and established filmmakers to share their works and establish an enriching dialogue with the public. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive platform that accommodates a wide diversity of voices and perspectives, thus promoting appreciation of the cultural and creative richness that fantastic cinema has to offer.

In addition to the screenings, the festival hosts special events, such as round tables, discussion panels and interactive activities, which seek to broaden the horizon of the attendees and delve into the world of fantastic cinema. These learning and engagement opportunities allow us to explore beyond the screen and discover the many facets of this unique film genre.

This event would not be possible without the support and collaboration of filmmakers, sponsors, volunteers and a dedicated team of collaborators. We thank all those who join this initiative, creating a meeting space where the passion for fantastic cinema flourishes and is shared.

Bienvenido/a a Momoxca Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico, un evento único que celebra la magia y la creatividad del cine fantástico en la hermosa alcaldía de Milpa Alta.

Momoxca Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico nació de la pasión y el deseo de llevar el cine fantástico a la comunidad de la Alcaldía Milpa Alta. Conscientes de la falta de acceso a producciones audiovisuales de calidad en esta zona, nos propusimos crear un evento que reuniera lo mejor del cine fantástico internacional.

Momoxca Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico es una oportunidad para que cineastas emergentes y consagrados compartan sus obras y establezcan un diálogo enriquecedor con el público. Nos enorgullece ser una plataforma inclusiva que da cabida a una amplia diversidad de voces y perspectivas, promoviendo así la apreciación de la riqueza cultural y creativa que el cine fantástico ofrece.

Además de las proyecciones, el festival alberga eventos especiales, como mesas redondas, paneles de discusión y actividades interactivas, que buscan ampliar el horizonte de los asistentes y profundizar en el mundo del cine fantástico. Estas oportunidades de aprendizaje y participación nos permiten explorar más allá de la pantalla y descubrir las múltiples facetas de este género cinematográfico único.

Rules & Terms

Momoxca International Fantastic Film Festival has the objective of promoting and disseminating fantastic cinema, encouraging cinematographic creativity and providing a platform for the exhibition of innovative short films. Through this call, we invite filmmakers from all over the world to participate in this unique event that will be held in November 2023.

Fiction short film: Will be accepted Short films with a duration of more than 2 minutes and will not exceed 20 minutes. With themes related to fantasy, horror, science fiction, space opera or any of its subgenres.

BASES
-Short films must have been produced after January 1, 2021.
-Short films must be in Spanish. In case of being presented in another language, they must have subtitles in Spanish.
-The works must be registered by directors, producers and/or distributors.
-All participants must cover the registration fees.
-Participants can register an unlimited number of works, as long as the registration fees are covered for each of the registered projects and they conform to the narrative genres mentioned at the beginning of the call.
-Works already released in theaters or distributed on home video, broadcast on television, the Internet or digital platforms will not be eligible.
-The list of selected short films will be published on our official website and on our social networks in October.
-Participants must meet all the requirements of the call to be accepted and enter the selection for exhibition
-The selection committee will resolve all cases that may arise, its verdict being final.

EXHIBITION AND RIGHTS
-The participants assure that they have the copyright, dissemination and distribution rights of the short films, therefore they delimit the organizers of the Momoxco International Fantastic Film Festival, sponsors or projection venues from any claim by third parties.
-The selected short films will be exhibited during the first edition of the Momoxca International Fantastic Film Festival and may not be withdrawn from the competition under any circumstances once the participation is accepted.
-The festival reserves the right to use extracts from the selected short films for promotional purposes.
-Participants will retain the copyright of their short films.

ACCEPTANCE OF PARTICIPATION
-Participation in the festival implies acceptance of all the bases and conditions established in this call.
-Any situation not contemplated in these bases will be resolved by the organization of the festival.
-The selected short films could be invited to participate in the streaming platforms with which the festival has an agreement, a new authorization will be requested if it is the case.

-Late deadline (Until September 29) Registration fee: $13.00 dollars.

REQUIREMENTS AND FORMATS OF RECEPTION
-The final exhibition formats will be exclusively:
MOV and/or MP4, H264 codec (DCP excluded).
Accepted resolutions: Full HD 1080p or 4K (files no larger than 10GB)
Image: Just like the frames you attach to your movie, they must be at least 1920x1080.
Audio: Sound 2.0 or 5.1.
Send movie trailer.
The deadline to deliver the exhibition copy and dissemination material of the selected short films is SEPTEMBER 29.
The shipping cost is borne by the producer, distributor or director.

JURIES AND OPINIONS
-The Jury will be made up of renowned filmmakers and specialists in the fantastic genre, who will be in charge of awarding the competing works.
-The Jury's decision will be final and the prize may be declared void if the aforementioned requirements are not met.
-Any unforeseen case will be resolved by the selection committee and the juries.
-The results of all the winners will be announced in a special ceremony and/or through the festival's page and social networks.
-For the winners of all the competitions, the prizes will be delivered within the framework of the festival, if for health reasons it is not possible to deliver them in person, the festival will determine another date for the delivery of the statuettes and awards.
-Winners who do not show up to receive their prize or recognition in the determined place and date, the festival may send the prize by national or international parcel service charged to the participant.

Momoxca Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico tiene el objetivo de promover y difundir el cine fantástico, fomentar la creatividad cinematográfica y brindar una plataforma para la exhibición de cortometrajes innovadores. A través de esta convocatoria, invitamos a cineastas de todo el mundo a participar en este evento único que se celebrará en el mes de noviembre del 2023.

Cortometraje de ficción: Se aceptarán cortometrajes con una duración mayor a los 2 minutos y no deberán superar los 20 minutos. Con temáticas relacionadas a la fantasía, terror, ciencia ficción, space opera o cualquiera de sus subgéneros.

BASES
-Los cortometrajes deben haber sido producidos después del 1 de enero de 2021.
-Los cortometrajes deben estar en español. En caso de ser presentadas en otro idioma, deberán contar con subtítulos en español.
-Las obras deben ser inscritas por realizadores, productores y/o distribuidores.
-Todos los participantes deberán cubrir con las tasas de inscripción.
-Los participantes pueden inscribir un número ilimitado de obras, siempre y cuando se cubran los tasas de inscripción por cada uno de los proyectos inscritos y se ajusten a los géneros narrativos mencionados al inicio de la convocatoria.
-Las obras ya estrenadas en cines o distribuidas en video casero, transmitidas por televisión, Internet o plataformas digitales no serán elegibles.
-La lista de cortometrajes seleccionadas se publicará en nuestro sitio web oficial y en nuestras redes sociales en el mes de octubre.
-Los participantes deben cubrir con todos los requisitos de la convocatoria para ser aceptados y entrar en la selección para exhibición
-El comité de selección resolverá todos los casos que pudieran presentarse, siendo inapelable su veredicto.

EXHIBICIÓN Y DERECHOS
-Los participantes aseguran contar con los derechos de autor, difusión y distribución de los cortometrajes, por lo que deslindan a los organizadores de Momoxco Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico, patrocinadores o sedes de proyección de cualquier reclamación por parte de terceros.
-Los cortometrajes seleccionados serán exhibidos durante la primer edición de Momoxca Festival Internacional de Cine Fantástico y no podrán ser retiradas de la competencia bajo ninguna circunstancia una vez aceptada la participación.
-El festival se reserva el derecho de utilizar extractos de los cortometrajes seleccionados con fines promocionales.
-Los participantes conservarán los derechos de autor de sus cortometrajes.

ACEPTACIÓN DE PARTICIPACIÓN
-La participación en el festival implica la aceptación de todas las bases y condiciones establecidas en esta convocatoria.
-Cualquier situación no contemplada en estas bases será resuelta por la organización del festival.
-Los cortometrajes seleccionados podrían ser invitados a participar en las plataformas de streaming con las que el festival tenga convenio, se solicitará una nueva autorización si es el caso.

REQUISITOS Y FORMATOS DE RECEPCIÓN
-Los formatos finales de exhibición serán exclusivamente:
MOV y/o MP4, codec H264 (se excluye DCP).
Resoluciones aceptadas: Full HD 1080p o 4K (archivos que no superen los 10GB)
Imagen: al igual que los fotogramas que adjunte a su película, deben ser como mínimo en 1920x1080.
Audio: Sonido 2.0 o 5.1.
Enviar tráiler de la película.
La fecha límite para entregar la copia de exhibición y material de difusión de los cortometrajes en selección es el 29 DE SEPTIEMBRE.
El costo de envío corre por cuenta del productor, distribuidor o director.

JURADOS Y DICTÁMENES
-El Jurado estará compuesto por reconocidos cineastas y especialistas del género fantástico, quienes serán los encargados de premiar los trabajos en competencia.
-La decisión del Jurado será inapelable y el premio se podrá declarar desierto en caso de no reunir los requisitos mencionados.
-Cualquier caso no previsto será resuelto por el comité de selección y los jurados.
-Los resultados de todos los ganadores se darán a conocer en una ceremonia especial y/o a través de la página y redes sociales del festival.
-Para los ganadores de todas las competencias, los premios se harán entrega en el marco del festival, si por razones sanitarias no es posible hacer la entrega presencial, el festival determinará otra fecha para la entrega de las estatuillas y reconocimientos.
-Los ganadores que no se presenten a recibir su premio o reconocimiento en el lugar y fecha determinada, el festival podrá enviar el premio por servicio de paquetería nacional o internacional con cargo al participante.
