Portland-based animator Mike A. Smith first started filmmaking as a kid with a borrowed Super 8 camera and some plasticine. Since then, he's moved some tons of dirt for archaeology, thrown away a lot of bad drawings, and made animated shorts such as COOPED (2014), MISSIONARY (2005), and HOMINID (2004). From 2009 to 2011, Mike served as president of ASIFA Portland, the Pacific Northwest chapter of the international animation society
