Michael's academic foundation was laid at Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom, where his knack for storytelling and visual narrative began to flourish. His promising talent soon caught the eye of renowned filmmakers, earning him an invitation to study in Belgrade, Serbia. There, he honed his craft under the mentorship of the illustrious Rian Johnson, best known for "Looper" (2012), "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017), and "Knives Out" (2019).
Michael's creative vision evolved further under the guidance of multiple award-winning writer/director Krzysztof Zanussi and Cannes, Venice, and Toronto film festival awardee Aleksander Sokurov. This distinctive blend of mentorship sculpted Michael's innovative filmmaking style, fusing his narratives with elements of intrigue, poignancy, and meticulous visual detail.
Returning to the United Kingdom Michael swiftly showcased his versatile talents, working as a director, cinematographer, and camera operator across an array of formats including short films, feature films, documentaries, music videos, and television working with numerous broadcasters, including the BBC.
Michael's journey then took him to Russia, where he leapt into the realm of feature filmmaking. He wrote and directed two feature films, filmed on location in Vilnius, Lithuania, and Lahore, Pakistan, further expanding his cultural repertoire and narrative range. Even amid his burgeoning directorial pursuits, he continued his work in television for international broadcasters such as BBC, NBC, Rai, Arte, and Saint Petersburg Channel 5.
Recognized globally, Michael's work has amassed over 70 film festival nominations, triumphing with more than 50 awards. His films are celebrated for their insightful narratives, cinematic beauty, and compelling performances.
Now residing in Stockholm, Sweden, Michael continues to juggle his roles adeptly. He serves international broadcasters while directing music videos and developing projects for digital streaming platforms like Netflix.
