Michael SU Hudson, a filmmaker and director, embarked on his journey in the world of cinema at Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom. His talent soon led him to Belgrade, Serbia, where he had the opportunity to be mentored by the acclaimed Rian Johnson, known for his work on "Knives Out" (2019) and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017). In addition to Johnson's guidance, Hudson was also mentored by Krzysztof Zanussi, a Cannes and Venice film festivals laureate, and Aleksander Sokurov, a winner of top honours at Cannes, Venice, and Toronto film festivals.
Hudson's return to the United Kingdom marked the beginning of a career where he worked extensively as a director, writer, cinematographer, and camera operator, on a diverse array of projects including short films, feature films, documentaries, music videos, and television programs. His work spanned across Europe, collaborating with renowned companies such as BBC, NBC, Rai, Arte, and Reuters.
In a bold move, Hudson relocated to Russia, where he wrote and directed his first two feature films. These projects were ambitiously shot on location in Vilnius, Lithuania, and Lahore, Pakistan, showcasing his ability to capture diverse cultural narratives. More recently, Hudson has penned a number of series that have been optioned by Netflix and other streaming services as well as directing music videos for artists such as Marloe. His collaborative efforts with Timur Bekmambetov, the director of "Night Watch" and "Wanted," further highlight his versatility and creative prowess in the filmmaking arena.
Hudson's journey reflects a blend of global influences and mentorship, combined with his unique vision and dedication to the art of cinema, making him a notable figure in the international film community. He currently resides in Stockholm, Sweden.
The music video involved a process of remote direction and collaboration across continents.
