For the second year, Melbourne Overlooked Film Festival will be running online. Do you have a short film which you believe is being overlooked by other film festivals? Submit it to MOFF 2022 where we appreciate the weird and wonderful, breaking the mould and showing hidden gems.

This film festival will be airing live 7th and 8th October 2022 (AEST) online on https://www.twitch.tv/melbourneoverlooked.
Confirmation emails will be sent by 3rd October 11:59pm AEST

Films submitted should be no more than 40 minutes in run time and if your film is in a language other than English please provide English subtitles with your submission.
No promotional films will be accepted and any film that promotes hate speech, sexism, homophobia, or racism will be immediately rejected and the submission fee will not be reimbursed.

Fees will be waived for any First Nations filmmakers. If you are a First Nations filmmaker; after submitting your short film to FilmFreeway, send an email with your film details and a method for refunding your submission fee.
We would like to acknowledge that we are working and screening on the unceded Land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.

There will be three awards;
Best Narrative Film
Best Documentary Film
Audience Choice

1. Submissions
The Film must be within the required time limit of 40 minutes and within the ethical guidelines. The MOFF programming group reserves the right to disqualify or reject any work that is considered to be promoting hate speech including, homophobia, racism or sexism.
We accept films from all countries. If your film is in a language other than English please provide English subtitles with your submission.
Submissions should not transgress the guidelines of the Australian board of classifications: https://www.classification.gov.au/classification-ratings/what-do-ratings-mean
Please ensure that you and all parties that own the rights to the material have consented to the submission.
If your film is chosen for screening you may be asked to introduce the work or answer questions about the work during festival events. We will send an email asking you if you are available for a 10 minute, live Q&A over zoom.

2. Fees & Payment
All payments for submissions should be submitted through the FilmFreeway website, after submission of the film there will be no refunds.
Each film submitted will require a new payment with price subject to change depending on the date:

4th September - 10th September 11:59pm AEST (Early Bird)
Early Bird Fee: $10
Early Bird Student Fee: $8

11th September 12am- 30th September 11:59pm AEST
Regular Fee: $15
Regular Student Fee: $10

Fees can be waived for First Nation Filmmakers and also for Filmmakers with a disability, if this applies to you please email moffsquad@gmail.com for the refunded submission fee.

3. Formatting
The works should be submitted as either a secured link on the FilmFreeway website, a password protected vimeo link with the necessary information to access it or a link to an unlisted youtube video.

4. Authorising materials
It is the sole responsibility of the Submitter to:
• secure permission from the rights holders of any and all copyrighted and/or trademarked content or materials included within the film
• clear all content within the film from any and all actual or potential legal claims and issues, including, without limitation, claims based on theories of libel, defamation, invasion of privacy, violation of rights of publicity, theft of trade secrets, breach of confidence, breach of confidential relationship, and breach of express or implied contract (“Third Party Claim/s”).

MOFF and its production team will not be held responsible for the submission of content that fails to meet these requirements.

    We are so happy to have our film "Aswang" selected and nominated. MOFF team is amazing and very flexible despite the restrictions brought by the sudden lockdown. They also had a great lineup of films so definitely looking forward for the next one!
