Join us for the 3rd Annual Mastic Beach Mini Indie Film Fest: Celebration of Grit!
Following last year's entirely-virtual fest, where we showcased the work of filmmakers and artists such as Frank Coraci (The Wedding Singer, Click), Susan Merrell (author of Shirley), and many others, the MBMIFF is going hybrid this year with both in-person and virtual programming!
Over the course of the weekend we will screen select films, engage in industry talk backs, celebrate local artists, and dance the night away to live music!
Please carefully read the following criteria for what we are programing around for 2021 in addition to the impressive international selections we have received in the past:
*Student Short (both competitive & exhibition)...
which will be paired with a professional feature film to kick off our programming. This prestigious recognition will set the tone for our festival; live talk back if in the area or on Zoom if not local to speak to audience and festival producers. Open to Undergrad and Grad filmmakers.
*Short and Feature Films...
for programming on Friday, Saturday, and our traditional Sunday Dinner screening - Comedy...make us laugh, Rom-Com...make us sigh, Drama...make us cry, Thriller...have us on the edge of our seats!
*Saturday Matinee: Children's Films...
we are partnering with our local library to screen either short or feature films for children; potential talk back with filmmakers paired with live entertainment.
*Short Films for our Midnight Screening...
we want to feature horror short films this year but we'll take some experimental work, too!
*Sunday Brunch: Poet Round Table & Student Films (out of competition)...
virtual screening of High School and Undergrad College submissions of live action, animation or experimental films; pre-taped or live talk backs with filmmakers and producers!
*Sunday Dinner Screening...
Short and Feature Films; feel good films, moving documentaries that will be screened along with a good old fashioned Italian Sunday dinner.
*Screenplay Submissions (out of competition)...
we will be curating a series of short film readings; we will help with casting local actors to read new works or screenplays that have been recently filmed and may be in post production...we will feature production stills during the reading with a talk back with all the screenwriters.
Festival goers will get to experience productions that extol hard work, strength, and courage, and leave feeling inspired, hopeful, and spirited.
Please subscribe on our website for future developments regarding the festival as they unfold. Looking forward to seeing you in November!
All films submitted will be in competition. The categories are:
*Grand Jury Award
*Student Jury Award
The Celebration of Grit Award goes to an industry professional that we admire and commend for their grit in filmmaking.
