The Marin County Fair is proud to host the Marin County International Festival of Short Film & Video for the 52nd year!

The Film Festival will be screened at the Marin Center Showcase Theater over the five days of the Marin County Fair. With attendance of 90,000 people at the Marin County Fair, the all-ages audience is large and diverse – a great place to showcase your work. Screenings are offered free of charge to attendees of the Fair.

Filmmakers of selected films will be provided with festival laurels.

A Jury of film professionals will name an overall Best of Jury Award as well as First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention in the following categories:
Animation
Documentary
Environmental
Narrative
Experimental

• A separate form and entry fee is required for each submission.

• Open to students and independent filmmakers 18 years of age and older.

• Family-friendly event; films must be appropriate for viewers of all ages.

• Films submitted should not exceed 20 minutes runtime.

• Please provide a logline or brief synopsis for your film.

• Submitted films must be at least 720p.

• All foreign language films must be submitted with English subtitles.

• Films commercially subsidized are eligible.

• Entries must have been completed after January 1, 2025. Films and videos entered in previous years may not be resubmitted.

• Films considered offensive or unsuitable for children will not be accepted for judging.

• All music and other copyright material used in films and videos must be original or be used with permission of author or publisher.

• Selected films will be asked to provide promotional material: EPK, director headshot and short bio, high resolution stills.

• Once a film is accepted, it may not be withdrawn.

EXHIBITION FORMATS:

Entries selected to be screened at our Festival must deliver all files and assets upon notification of acceptance and no later than Wednesday, 3 June.

Full resolution files must be made available for download from FilmFreeway, Vimeo, Dropbox or other cloud-based platform – Vimeo or Dropbox preferred.

QuickTime MOV (ProResHQ or DNxHD codec) or high-bitrate (25Mb/s or more) MP4 at 720p or better resolution.

NO PHYSICAL MEDIA WILL BE ACCEPTED – NO EXCEPTIONS

PLEASE NOTE:
The Marin County Fair International Festival of Short Film & Video can not provide travel or lodging for out-of-town filmmakers.

Inclusion in the festival is not guaranteed due to screening time constraints as well as failure to adhere to guidelines.
