Rules and Terms – Marathi International Film Festival (MIFF):
General Requirements
* All films must include English subtitles.
* Only Marathi-language films are eligible for awards.
* To qualify for MIFF, films must have been completed within the last three (3) calendar years from the year of the upcoming festival edition. Any film completed prior to this rolling 3-year window will be disqualified.
* MIFF may be held online, in-person, or in a hybrid format depending on current circumstances. By submitting, you agree to this flexibility and accept all responsibilities regarding submission formats and delivery.
* MIFF and its team are not responsible for lost, damaged, or unreadable content. Festival dates and venues are subject to change without notice.
* Due to time and programming constraints, MIFF reserves the right to screen a limited number of selected films. All officially selected films, whether screened or not, will remain eligible for award consideration.

1. SUBMITTING CONTENT
"Content" refers to all films, media, stills, promotional material, and other supporting assets submitted to MIFF. Submission confirms your acceptance of all terms and conditions outlined herein.
All content must meet the formatting and submission guidelines on FilmFreeway. Entrants must also comply with age, content, and technical requirements.
If your film is selected, submitters are responsible for providing:
DCP and KDMs via AutoDCP or any accepted platform
If DCP is unavailable, a high res full HD downloadable link must be sent.
All materials must be delivered at least two (2) weeks before the festival date
2. AGE REQUIREMENTS
To submit a film to MIFF, participants must be 18 years of age or older. Submissions from individuals under 18 will not be accepted.
3. CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
Submitters are fully responsible for their content. MIFF does not endorse or reflect the views presented in submitted films. The festival reserves the right to remove content at its discretion without notice.
Do not submit content that is:
Libelous, obscene, pornographic, or defamatory
Racially, culturally, or sexually offensive
Threatening, harassing, or discriminatory
Primarily commercial or promotional in nature
You must clear all rights for music, footage, graphics, and intellectual property. MIFF is not liable for any rights violations. If rights holders contact us, we will refer them to you.
4. COPYRIGHT & VIOLATIONS

5. RIGHTS GRANTED TO MIFF
By submitting your film, you grant MIFF the non-exclusive, royalty-free right to host, store, stream, and use your content for:
Promotion and advertising (e.g., trailers, showreels)
Online and in-person screenings
Partnered theater events
One-time streaming or broadcast events (e.g., weekend online premieres, affiliated TV channel broadcasts)
These rights commence upon submission and continue for up to one (1) year from the festival date. Any additional uses beyond that period will require your explicit permission.
6. OWNERSHIP
MIFF does not claim ownership of your content. You must own, or have secured, all necessary rights and licenses to the content and its components. You agree to indemnify MIFF against any claim resulting from rights violations.
7. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION
MIFF reserves the right to benefit from your content during the festival without any compensation to you or your representatives. There are no cash prizes; award winners will receive a trophy and/or certificate.
8. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MIFF, its affiliates, and partners from any claims or liabilities arising from your submission, including legal disputes, copyright claims, or third-party actions.
9. DISCLAIMERS & LIMITATIONS
Submission is at your own risk. MIFF disclaims all liability for:
Damage to personal devices or data
Unauthorized third-party use of content
Any direct or indirect damages arising from submission or participation
10. GENERAL
This agreement supersedes any prior communication and constitutes the full agreement between you and MIFF. MIFF may update or terminate this agreement or your participation without prior notice.
11. GOVERNING LAW
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, and subject to the jurisdiction of New Jersey courts.
12. JUDGING & SELECTION
The MIFF team will review and shortlist entries for screening. Awards will be announced on the final day of the festival. All decisions by the MIFF team are final and binding.
13. CHANGES TO TERMS & FESTIVAL
By submitting, you agree that festival terms, dates, or venue may change without prior notice. You also agree to any future revisions to these Terms and Conditions.
