Let’s face it, women encounter many challenges working in the film and TV industry. But when you add motherhood into that equation, the level of difficulty rises tremendously. Through fiscal sponsorship provided by The Center for Active Learning, (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization). MOM Film Fest is an exciting initiative dedicated to elevating filmmakers who are mothers. We are celebrating moms who are creating great work – Making Our Movies while raising our kids.

It’s also for the moms who’ve had to step away from their careers in this industry in order to raise their children. We see you and we are working on ways to create opportunities for all of us, and that includes you too, whenever you are ready to return. Establishing this online film festival is one of the steps we are using to continue building our community of moms supporting each other. Motherhood is the greatest universal bond, and it allows us to understand each other in ways that only we can. Join us!

We are looking for story-based projects in the form of narrative (fiction) or documentary (non fiction) films and series that feature moms in leadership positions - writers, directors, producers, cinematographers, etc. We accept short-form content (up to 40 minutes long) in the following categories: Narrative, Documentary, Series, Mom-Themed Content, and Social Justice.

The MOM Film Fest team was professional, courteous, and well organized. I LOVE the array of films. Tonya providing networking opportunities for the filmmakers during the Fest and after. It was a great way to connect to with the filmmakers. This year was virtual and they still maintained high standards. I would highly recommend MFF to any Filmmakers considering entering their film.

Thank you, Alyscia! It warms our hearts to hear that you had a good experience and that you were able to content with your fellow filmmakers. So blessed that we had such an amazing group of filmmakers during this our inaugural year and so happy "I Am More Than My Hair" was a part of it, great work!

Thanks, Liz! So happy to have had "MOMTRESS" as a part of our inaugural year, great work!

  • All the shout outs to Tonya and team for making this special festival come to life. We were blown away by the generosity they showed from a very personal exchange during the selection process and in offering actual financial and production related awards to festival winners. Understandably, most smaller festivals email a laurel leaf - which is totally fine - but for a small festival to go out of their way to support their filmmakers really shows the heart and value system of MOM Film Fest and their honest commitment to supporting Mom filmmakers. We hope it grows immensely and receives great support in years to come!
