The Cinemas are yet to be confirmed for 2026 in Adelaide South Australia. 2025 we screened a sold out opening night at The Palace Nova Cinema on the biggest EXI MAX screen in the state.

Scheduled again over three exciting days of INDEPENDENT, outlaw, low budget, micro budget original FEATURE films from ALL OVER THE GLOBE. Adelaide will once again come alive with the best Alternative, Underground and Independent Feature Films.

WHAT WE WANT:

FULL LENGTH MOVIES, Rock and music Docs, Low and No budget Indies, Creature Features, body horror, science Fiction, schlock, Grindhouse, Gallio, Psychotronic, Punk rock inspired, Underground Trash, Mockumentaries, sick and twisted animations, Genre Anthology, freaked out, out of the box and Midnight movies of madness!!

At this stage we aren't planning on a physical trophy this year. We are currently working on Partners for prizes.

MURDER CITY CARNIVALE OF CINEMA RULES AND TERMS FOR ENTERING.

Film submissions must be accompanied by the official entry form found on the submission portals and entry fee.

All films are for consideration for all Murder City Carnivale of Cinema screenings.

All entries are submitted ONLINE through FilmFreeway.

Entries must be submitted no later than the deadlines found on the submission sites.

The Murder City Carnivale of Cinema program will premiere in Adelaide on Friday February 6th to Sunday 8th February 2026.OFFICIAL Cinemas to be announced soon.

Multiple entries accepted providing each film has separate entry form. Only one film will be screened per Category Details

NOTIFICATION DATE : December 15, 2025

RUNTIME FEATURE: 60 minutes to 120 minutes

COMPLETION DATE: No requirement for completed by date

PLACE OF ORIGIN: Projects may originate from anywhere in the world

PREMIERE STATUS: No premiere requirement. Preference will be for World Premieres, Australian and South Australian Premieres.

DISTRIBUTION STATUS: Projects may have distribution entrant.

Category Rules

Upon submitting a film for consideration to the Murder City Carnivale of Cinema program to premiere at the Murder City Carnivale of Cinema the submitter acknowledges and agrees to the following:

* The submitter holds relevant copyrights for the submitted film and agrees to screen the film at all Murder City Carnivale of Cinema screenings. It is the participants responsibility to ensure all music, sound and visuals for their films are cleared for the Festival. The festival will not be held liable for any issues or lawsuits regarding any films that are entered into the festival.

* The submitter understands that submitting a film does not guarantee entry into the festival program and that no refunds will be issued for submission fees for films not selected for the program after the notification date. All Film submissions will be notified by December 15th 2025.

* The Festival will not be responsible for any loss and / or damage to materials supplied while they are in possession of the festival.

* To save the submitter postage fees and to save the planet in general Murder City Carnivale of Cinema strongly prefers submissions to be sent electronically utilizing the online screener service provided by Film Freeway. We’ll be able to screen and assess your film much faster too!
