MA/IN is an international festival devoted to experimental sound art, audiovisual art and live perfomance. The mission of MA/IN is to provide local and regional audiences with an opportunity to view a wide variety of contemporary experimental works, focused on artistic excellence, different styles, forms, and nationalities.
Since 2016, in collaboration with regional/national institutions and part of the cultural program of Matera 2019 European Capital of Culture, MA/IN festival offers a program of live cinema, performances, live sonorization of classic silent film etc.
The festival is organized by LOXOSconcept, a non-profit cultural centre, active in the realization of experimental movies, sound art works, artistic installations and promoting research into the aesthetic, analytical, musicological and scientific aspects of music.

LOXOS~ promotes the 10th edition of the MA/IN - 2026
The MA/IN will take place in south Italy:
Castrignano De’ Greci + Lecce | 24-27 September 2026
Matera + Potenza | 29 september-3 October 2026

MA/IN Festival is opened to artists who want to submit experimental works: video performance, live cinema, expanded cinema, experimental shorts, etc.
The festival is open to artists of any nationality and age.

An international jury will selected the artworks to be screened. Only selected works will be in the festival’s program.

Official Selection: selected works will be performed during the festival and included in the official festival program and booklet.

The festival has an important collaboration this year with:
The CRM (Centro di Ricerche Musicali) of Rome.

Selected works will be programmed in:
- Artescienza Festival (July 2026, Rome - Goethe Institute) organized by the Centro di Ricerche Musicali (CRM) of Rome;
- MA/IN Festival.

Il MA/IN è un festival internazionale dedicato, all'arte audiovisiva, all'arte sonora sperimentale e alle performance dal vivo. La missione del MA/IN è offrire al pubblico locale e regionale l'opportunità di visionare una vasta gamma di opere sperimentali contemporanee, incentrate sull'eccellenza artistica, su stili, forme e nazionalità diverse.

Dal 2016, in collaborazione con istituzioni regionali/nazionali e come parte del programma culturale di Matera 2019, Capitale Europea della Cultura, il festival MA/IN propone un programma di cinema dal vivo, performance, sonorizzazione dal vivo di film muti classici, ecc. Il festival è organizzato da LOXOSconcept, un centro culturale no-profit attivo nella realizzazione di film sperimentali, opere di arte sonora, installazioni artistiche e nella promozione della ricerca sugli aspetti estetici, analitici, musicologici e scientifici della musica.

LOXOS~ promuove la decima edizione del MA/IN - 2026. Il MA/IN avrà luogo nel sud Italia:

Il Festival MA/IN è aperto agli artisti che desiderano presentare opere sperimentali: performance video, cinema espanso, live cinema, animazione sperimentale, corti di cinema sperimentale, ecc.. Il festival è aperto ad artisti di qualsiasi nazionalità ed età.

Una giuria internazionale selezionerà le opere da proiettare. Solo le opere selezionate faranno parte del programma del festival.

Selezione Ufficiale: le opere selezionate saranno proiettate durante il festival e incluse nel programma e nel libretto ufficiale.

Il festival ha quest'anno una collaborazione attiva con il CRM (Centro di Ricerche Musicali).

Le opere selezionate verranno programmate all’interno di:
- Festival Artescienza (luglio 2025, Roma - Goethe Institut) organizzato dal Centro di Ricerche Musicali (CRM) di Roma;
- festival MA/IN.

Awards & Prizes

The MA/IN organization will :
- provide AudioVisual Recording for live performances;
- publish selected works in the MA/IN 2026 digital booklet;
- include selected works in the official MA/IN after Movie;
- screen (in MA/IN festival and/or ArteScienza Festival) and promote selected works.

L'organizzazione del MA/IN :
- fornirà registrazioni audiovisive per le esibizioni dal vivo;
- pubblicherà le opere selezionate nel booklet digitale del MA/IN 2026;
- Includerà le opere selezionate nel racconto audiovisivo ufficiale del festival/after movie;
- organizzerà le proiezioni delle opere selezionate (all'interno del MA/IN e/o del festival Arte Scienza) e promuoverà le opere attraverso i propri canali.

The festival registration fee is :
€20.00 for each work

+ Taking part at the call for score, the artist declares to be the author and exclusive owner of the submitted work.

+ By submitting, the participant filmmaker/artist acknowledges and agrees that if selected for the festival - their film will be screened in a live venue in front of live audience.

- By submitting, the participant filmmaker/artist acknowledges and agrees for the MA/IN Festival to use publicity material (film, production stills, posters, clip etc.) from selected films to promote the festival in print and online.

- Selected works will remain in the archive of the festival and be used during screenings; details of screenings will be communicated to the artists prior to the event;

- All selected works will be promoted through our social media and website with a dedicated page with synopsis, film stills and trailer. For this purpose, we recommend that projects must be fully entered on FilmFreeway, including film stills, production pictures, downloadable poster, and trailer or teaser.

- The Artist certifies that she/he is the sole author of the Artwork, that this is an original work that does not copy other preexisting works.

- The personal data supplied by the artists will be treated in accordance with Law 675/96 (“Privacy Policy”), the Legislative Decree n. 196/2003 (“Privacy Code”) and the art.13 Regulation EU 2016/679 (G.D.P.R), even for inclusion in databases operated by the LOXOSconcept cultural association. Any television, radio, recordings, and broadcasts of the works participating in the award for the promotion of the artists or the festival itself through marketing and communication are authorised by the artist without any additional obligation for the organization and without prior request of consent from the artist.
