The 2018 Lyons Film Festival is the gateway to Colorado's film makers, musicians and artistic talent. Set in idyllic Lyons Colorado, its now a must stop on your way to the Rocky Mountain National Park just north of Denver and Boulder. The 4th year of the Lyons Film Festival will showcase many well known films, that of the many local Colorado independent film to films from abroad in categories ranging from, Environmental Documentaries, Music documentaries to the Out Door Recreational Films . If your curious about this creative art and you'd like to get a better understanding of how such a task as creating a film from conception, to story boarding, directing talent, directing a cohesive efficient film crew, costume design on a small to budget, editing or to getting distribution and getting it on the big screen is possible, these subjects will be addressed at our many film makers panels and workshops through out the weekend. This festival schedule like the town will be easy to navigate as all the films are based at Rogers Hall on High street. To end our third day of film, an awards party will be held to celebrate those filmmaker's hard efforts at the famous Oskar Blues Resteraunt and Brewery.

The Lyons Film Festival was our first festival experience, and it was top-notch in some specific areas. First, they did an outstanding job at promoting our film in local press and on social media. The staff was warm, welcoming, and communicative throughout the entire process (and answered my many newbie questions quickly and with a smile). Second, the quality of the programming was very good. We attended a few different screening blocks, and I was very impressed with the film selection all around. This is an especially interesting festival if you enjoy the outdoor/adventure style of films. They also had some helpful filmmaker sessions that allowed filmmakers to connect and learn about different topics (such as funding/distribution). The only downside was the lack of non-filmmaker audience members during our specific screening block, but I believe that is because it was the family block in the morning and the festival still being fairly new. I believe with more time and tweaks, this festival will continue to grow its audience. The festival is doing so many things well!

Although I wasn't able to attend the festival, I can only say good things about it based on the photos and correspondence. The organizers took great effort to publicize the event in local / neighboring towns and were very active on social media promoting the festival and the filmmakers. My e-mails were always answered in a prompt and friendly manner. This might be a new festival but certainly one to watch.

These guys were great and really made sure they were getting things right for my film. I wasn't able to attend but communication was great dealing with some technical details. Thanks for everything!

We had a good time at this film festival. It was our first showing of one of our films. The initial showing at the outdoor festival area was a little disorganized and sparsely attended but the second showing in town was better. It would have been nice if somehow all the attendees at the outdoor festival could have been made aware when the films where being shown and attendance might have been better. I don't think most people even knew there were films being shown and the tent had no banner or anything signifying films. Otherwise, the festival was great and we made some good networking contacts for the future. I expect this festival will get better and better in future years. Lots of hard work on the part of Jake and his staff.
