The Lynchburg Film Festival invites filmmakers from around the world to submit short narrative films, documentaries, and experimental film projects. Our mission is to screen innovative new films, create discussions about their work, and to provide a networking opportunity for filmmakers.

We offer hotel accommodations and a meal stipend for visiting filmmakers with official selections.

The Festival is a partnership with James River Arts Council and the screening event will take place on Sunday, October 27th in the Historic Theater at the Academy Center of the Arts, Lynchburg, Virginia.

Note: We no longer accept Horror Film submissions - no gore, explicit violence, zombies, serial killers, or other monsters please. We got thousands of these, and there are so many great festivals for this genre that will serve you better. Suspenseful, dark, and even creepy films are welcomed! Blood and death are ok if it's part of a story and not included for shock value.

We are looking for short films with a runtime less than 19 minutes. All submissions will be considered and not rejected due to length.

Filmmakers should decide what category they consider best for their film. We will not reject or object to your chosen category.

1. Films must have been completed in the past 3 years.

2. No premiere status is required for our festival.

3. Submitter holds the sole responsibility of copyright clearance of any copyrighted material in the film and shall indemnify and hold harmless the Lynchburg Film Festival from all claims and liabilities.

4. Submission of entry is considered legal permission to screen your film during the festival.

5. By submitting your film, you authorize Lynchburg Film Festival to use, distribute and share the film poster, trailer, synopsis and movie stills to promote the festival.

6. The festival will only communicate with the submitter of the film project. No information will be shared with third parties.

7. Lynchburg Film Festival reserves the right to rescind acceptance of any film for any reason.
