Luca Giacomelli (born 1995) is an artist and filmmaker, graduated in New Technologies of Art and Cinema, Photography and Audiovisuals at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy.
His practice spans film, photography and video art, with a particular focus on experimental and machinima-based storytelling.
Drawing inspiration from Werner Herzog, Andrei Tarkovskij and Godfrey Reggio, Giacomelli explores themes of perception, temporality and the intersection between digital and cinematic languages.
He has directed several short films, including Dogs (2019, co-directed with Matteo Marchi) and Glaucoma (2025, co-directed with Matteo Marchi), which deals with existential and landscape cinema, What is Happening in Our City? and A Report for humanity, both selected for the Milan Machinima Festival in 2021 and 2023.
Giacomelli lives and works in Carrara, developing projects that critically
examine the evolving relationship between moving images and contemporary digital aesthetics.
In 2025, with Matteo Marchi, he founded the Italian production collective "Man In Plastic", an indipendent reality that self-produces music videos, short films and films with the goal of express themselves, to experiment, without boundaries.
