What is happening in our city?
Shot with/in Grand Theft Auto V, this machinima examines the relationship between lived experiences and simulations, and how these two realities influence each other. Inspired by the collage practices of avant-garde such as Dada and by the work of Jonas Mekas, What is Happening in Our City is a commentary of everyday life in the digital age through an audiovisual mash-up of environments, people, characters, advertising and neon signs, urban sounds and voices. The title, which evokes the alarmist, moral panics rhetorical style of mass media, is ironic and irreverent.
