Submission Rules

Focus on Movies That Matter

We seek films that make a statement, provoke thought, or leave a lasting impact. Whether your movie addresses moral dilemmas, portrays nuanced characters, or challenges societal norms, it should resonate deeply with audiences. Inspired by Michael Angel Loayza Jr.’s VacciNation—a gripping feature that blends suspense with social commentary—we especially encourage horror, comedy, and psychological thriller films that carry weight, though all genres are welcome.

Eligibility
Submissions are open to filmmakers worldwide, of all experience levels, including students, amateurs, and professionals.

Films must be completed after January 1, 2020, to ensure relevance and freshness.

Films of any length are accepted, from micro-shorts (under 5 minutes) to feature-length movies (over 40 minutes).

Films in any language are welcome, but non-English films must include English subtitles embedded in the video file.

Submission Process
All submissions must be made through FilmFreeway. No other submission methods (e.g., email, physical media) will be accepted.

Submitters must provide a secure, viewable link to their film (e.g., Vimeo, YouTube private link) and ensure it remains active throughout the judging process.

A completed submission form, including a brief synopsis (100-200 words) explaining how the film addresses a moral issue or explores complicated characters, is required.

Submission fees are non-refundable. (Note: Specific fees are set on FilmFreeway; contact us if you need a fee waiver for financial hardship.)

Multiple submissions from the same filmmaker are allowed, but each film requires a separate entry and fee.

Content Guidelines
Films must be the original work of the submitter or their team, with all necessary rights and permissions secured (e.g., music, footage, likeness).

Content must not violate copyright laws, include defamatory material, or promote hate speech, excessive violence, or explicit content that lacks artistic merit.

By submitting, you grant LowWiseZah Studios and the LowWiseZah Studios Film Festival non-exclusive rights to screen your film at the live event in New Jersey (TBA) if selected, and to showcase it on our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/lowwisezahstudios) if chosen as a winner or select entry.

You also grant permission to use excerpts (up to 30 seconds), stills, or promotional materials (e.g., posters, trailers) for festival promotion on our YouTube channel, website, social media (including X), and other platforms.

Submitters retain all ownership and copyright of their films. LowWiseZah Studios will not distribute or reproduce your film beyond the festival’s promotional and screening purposes without your consent.

Showcase and Screening
YouTube Showcase: Winners and select films will be featured on the LowWiseZah Studios YouTube channel, which has garnered over millions of views, through dedicated premieres, curated playlists, and promotional shoutouts. The festival team will determine the format and timing of these showcases.

Live Screening: Select films, including award winners, will be screened at a live event in a New Jersey venue (TBA). Filmmakers will be notified if their film is chosen for the live screening, and attendance is encouraged but not required.

LowWiseZah Studios is not responsible for travel or accommodation costs for filmmakers attending the live event.

Judging and Awards
Films will be judged by a panel selected by Michael Angel Loayza Jr. and the LowWiseZah Studios team, based on creativity, storytelling impact, alignment with the “movies that matter” theme, and technical execution.

Awards include Grand Jury Award: Best Film, Best Horror Film, Best Comedy Film, Best Psychological Thriller Film, Audience Choice Award, and Honorable Mentions, with prizes such as YouTube features, live screenings, trophies, and promotional boosts (see Awards & Prizes for details).

The Audience Choice Award will be determined by votes from YouTube viewers and live event attendees.

All decisions by the judging panel are final and not subject to appeal.

Liability and Responsibility
Submitters are responsible for ensuring their film complies with all legal requirements, including copyright and clearance for music, footage, and talent.

LowWiseZah Studios is not liable for any legal disputes, copyright infringement claims, or damages arising from submitted films.

The festival reserves the right to disqualify any submission that violates these rules or terms without refund.

Festival Rights
LowWiseZah Studios reserves the right to modify festival dates, formats (e.g., virtual screenings if necessary), or rules due to unforeseen circumstances, with notice provided to submitters.

If a film is selected, submitters must provide a high-quality digital file (e.g., MP4, 1080p or higher) for YouTube showcasing and/or live screening within 7 days of notification.
