Love Lives in SF Film Festival 2026 – Call for Submissions
San Francisco has long been a place where difference is not erased but embraced, where voices from many backgrounds weave the city’s collective story. At a time when the U.S. government is working to minimize or erase the importance of diversity, Love Lives in SF insists that diversity is not just a fact of our lives—it is our strength, our beauty, and our future.
For our 2026 Film Festival, we invite filmmakers, storytellers, and artists to share short films (up to 11 minutes) that explore diversity as love in action: the ways our identities, communities, and intersections create spaces of care, creativity, and resilience. We are especially interested in work that highlights underrepresented voices and offers visions of belonging that challenge erasure.
Your film might reflect on:
Personal stories of cultural identity, migration, or family.
The intersections of race, gender, sexuality, class, and ability in daily life.
Acts of solidarity and care across differences.
Imagined futures where diversity thrives as resistance.
Love used as a primary tool for story-telling
Together, these films will remind us: in San Francisco, love lives in diversity.
Selected and Submitted film-makers will be invited to attend the screening and reception ceremony featuring live-screen printing, snacks, bar, raffles, and more!
We want to hear YOUR voice and YOUR unique approach to story-telling. Please email us at love.livesinsf@gmail.com if you need an additional discount code, and we can discuss it.

Selected films will be presented on a approximately 50' × 28' screen on May 1, 2026, at Gray Area Theatre in San Francisco. Films will be eligible for one of five “Best Of” category awards, to be adjudicated by a jury of up to five industry professionals.
