In an effort to highlight student media skills throughout LCSD, Communication Arts CTE is holding our first ever summer film festival on Saturday June 3, 2023 from 4 – 10pm at the LHS Auditorium. In addition to showcasing student work, we are looking to have vendors, food, and other festival-related fun.

Standing on the shoulders of an extremely successful Winter Film Fest back in February, we wanted to open up this end of the year celebration to all students in LCSD between grades 7 – 12 and see what happens. Students can submit short films, music videos, tv segments, etc. to be screened at the festival and considered for various awards which will be judged by district staff, industry professionals, and maybe a few other special guests.

A panel of judges consisting of LCSD staff, industry professionals, and special guests will consider submissions for the following awards:

Best in category
Best picture
Best cinematography
Best actor
Best editing
Best sound
Best original concept
Best screenplay
Audience choice (to be judged during festival via audience poll)

To be considered for screening and awards, submissions must meet the following criteria:

-Made by LCSD student(s) in grades 7 - 12 between May 30, 2022 and May 30, 2023
-Under 10 minutes in length total
-Appropriate for a family audience

Submissions can be made in the following media categories:

-Short film
-Documentary
-News package
-TV show segment
-PSA/Advertisement
-Music Video
-Animation

Please include with your submission:
-Screenplay and/or planning documents such as shot list, storyboard, etc.
-Poster for marketing
-List of cast and crew
-Three sentence synopsis

***Although unlikely, any media submitted for screening may be trimmed, censored, or otherwise edited to fit the needs of festival programming.
