Welcome to Lit Laughs International Comedy Film Festival, an annual Event with a Prestigious awards ceremony held in the very heart of Yorkshire in Harrogate every July.

As well as guest judges we will also have live stand up, music, live screenings and of course the awards themselves. There is also a bar available all evening and there will also been plenty of opportunity for networking.

Lit Laughs, a company formed early 2018 by a group of talented comedians, aim to promote and celebrate the world of comedy by rewarding talented and funny work regardless of budget and location.

Dates for the 2021 Live event will be July 10th and will be held at The Manhattan Club, Beech Avenue, Harrogate HG2 8DY UNITED KINGDOM from 19.00 – late.

PLEASE NOTE : DUE TO THE LOCKDOWN AND THE PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS IF ONCE AGAIN WE ARE NOT ABLE TO RUN A LIVE EVENT WE WILL LIVE STREAM IT AS WE HAVE DONE IN THE PAST

Awards & Prizes

All official entries , Finalists, 3rd place and Runner up and winners will receive a Laurel and certificate
Trophies will be awarded to all winners of each category on the night, if you can not attend we will mail to you anywhere in the world at our cost.
We will also have an award for funniest performance. all entries will be automatically entered in to this at no extra cost .
We will also award Best British Comedy and Best International comedy , all entries will be automatically entered in to this at no extra cost .
We will promote all finalists on our Facebook page at their request (30k followers)

Rules & Terms

Work can be submitted from any year as funny does not have an expiry date
For screenplays - Features must be over 50 pages
- shorts must be over 10 pages up to 50
- micro shorts must be over 1 page up to 10
- Web screenplays any length

For Films - Features must be over 50 mins
- Shorts 10 - 50 mins
- Micro shorts 0-10 mins
- Comedy Horror Shorts 0 - 50 mins
- Rom Com Shorts 0 - 50 mins

NB : ALL NON ENGLISH FILMS MUST CONTAIN SUBTITLES IN ENGLISH TO BE ACCEPTED

    I absolutely loved this film festival! Even though a lot of it was pushed back due to covid, the team made sure to keep everyone updated! Thank you so much for choosing “The R Word” as a joint third place winner for the micro script selection! The certificate looks excellent on my wall. Would recommend to all my filmmaking friends!!!

    Great stuff here, hospitality was faultless as the organiser worked tirelessly to put the festival on online in what I'm sure was a very tough time to organise any event! I received communication about the festival even on Christmas day. Well chuffed to have been included in semi-finals.
    Finalist/winner live announcement stream was a nice touch and gave it the excitement of a live festival.
