Lian Morrison is a filmmaker recognized for her documentary-driven storytelling and her ability to capture deeply human narratives with sensitivity. She holds a diploma in Filmmaking from the Prague Film School and a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Over the past 12 years, Lian has built a diverse and versatile body of work, taking on roles as director, cinematographer, editor, and producer across a wide range of documentary and television projects.
Her recent credits include Sing the World Better (Co-Director & Co-Writer), Oranges (Producer), CBC’s Canada’s a Drag (Director & Editor), CBC’s Set in Motion (Director & Cinematographer), and the award-winning documentaries Flight of the Fisherman and Behind Banana Vacuum. She also worked as a cinematographer on a restorative justice documentary in Miawpukek Mi’kamawey Mawi’omi and served as a field producer on Weather Files. Lian directed four pieces for CBC's Creator Network, following community-based artists and showcasing their creative processes and local impact.
Lian’s passion lies in amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering authentic expression, using film as a tool for connection, understanding, and social change.
