Lee Galea is a Maltese Australian film director and writer. He was born on August 22, 1979 in Melbourne, Australia.
He is best known for his feature film "Monster Pies" which premiered in 2013 at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, and after 23 years of MQFF "Monster Pies" was the first ever Australian film to win Best Feature. It went on to screen at Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival, Philadelphia QFest and The Galway Film Fleadh. "Monster Pies" is distributed in the US and Europe by TLA releasing.
In 2017, Lee released his "Wizard of Oz" adaptation "The Neon Spectrum" starring Joshua Orpin from "DC Titans", in his feature debut. It was released by Umbrella Entertainment and has been broadcast through the Nine network in Australia.
Lee produced a soundtrack of mostly original songs for his 2019 musical drama "Filterphonic", which opened the "Lorne Film" festival in the same year. In 2020, "Melbourne indie Film festival" awarded the film Best Drama, Best supporting actress and Best musical.
Lee is now in Post-Production with his newest film "Sexagenarian" and during the 2020 lock down in Melbourne, Lee wrote a queer comedy series "Single, Out".
