The Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games will be taking place January 12-22, 2023 in the Village of Lake Placid, the site of many epic winter sports moments through the years. This 11-day international festival will feature competition, ceremonies, music and culture.
Save Winter, an integral part of the Lake Placid 2023 event, is a movement to unite all of us who love winter to work as one to save the season of snow. This inaugural Save Winter Film Festival explores the intersection of climate change and winter sports calling for submissions by all levels of winter athletes and lovers of winter from across the globe.
Save Winter is calling for video submissions of 2 minutes or less that respond to the question of how climate change is affecting winter sports in your part of the world and how you feel about winter? How does it affect training, and competition or just doing your sport for fun? Combined film shorts will tell the story of climate change through the lens of winter sports. Telling your story in a compact timeline can be powerful. When combined with other short videos into one long film, it will be amazing!
Films can be created on any high-resolution device 4K or higher including 4/5G phones or video cameras. They can include dialogue but must not have a music track. Videos should be uploaded directly in raw format. Video size should not exceed 10G and should be directly uploaded to Film Freeway and not through a third party such as Vimeo or Youtube.
Longer feature films will also be shown during the Save Winter Film Festival and will share stories from professional filmmakers ultimately inspiring snow and ice lovers to take action.
Filmmakers whose videos are selected will receive an official Save Winter Film Festival T-shirt and will be recognized during the Festival and in the final film credits.
