2023 LDUB Film Festival & Palm Beach SWEDE Fest
Call for Submissions

In 2023, the 11th year of the LDUB Film Festival, we have joined with our friends at the Palm Beach SWEDE Fest to put on a joyous cinematic weekend of celluloid visions. Of course we speak of celluloid metaphorically these days.

We shall open the festival on Sept. 22, 2023 on the MainStage of the lake Worth Playhouse with the ever frolicsome Palm Beach SWEDE fest presenting 'bad movies by good people'. Those unfamiliar with this decade long institution will find themselves immersed in hilarious 3 minute, no-budget remakes of Hollywood hits done by amateur and professional filmmakers.

The evening concludes with the audience bestowing a 'Best of Fest' recognition on an outrageous movie..

Submissions to the SWEDE Fest are separate from the LDUB Festival, are without charge and should be fowarded to info@swedefestpalmbeach.com.

On Saturday September 23rd Sunday September 24th the action moves next door to the Stonzek Studio Theater for the our 11th LDUB Film Festival bringing movies from across the globe in a variety of genres and formats.

The LDUB Festival seeks exciting new features and shorts, narratives and documentaries, music videos, animations and experimental works to delight our audiences. While the festival has no geographic restrictions we encourage works from S. Florida filmmakers and invite accepted filmmakers to attend the festival and meet other artists and the audiences. Submissions will be judged by a panel of critics and filmmakers as well as our audiences.

As we have at previous festivals, the Lake Worth Playhouse will offer technical classes / seminars free of charge and open to the public on topics like editing, camera choice, lighting, financing a film, drones, screenwriting, etc. Topics and schedule will be posted as festival time approaches on https://lakeworthplayhouse.org/ldubfilmfestival/.

Now in its 11th year the LDUB Film Festival with its colleagues from SWEDE Fest Palm Beach remains LIVE with a big silver screen, popcorn on the floor and film lovers on the edge of their seats. Please follow our organizations' progress on https://lakeworthplayhouse.org/ldubfilmfestival/.

It has been our tradition to bring movie lovers and movie makers together to share their passions for the best movies that we can find. We so;licit material by filmmakers from around the globe and are looking for superbly made movies that display a unique imagination and eye of the artist.

If your movie amazes we want to see it, no matter what your age, your experience, where its from or its length.

Student competition is encouraged and open to elementary, middle, high school and college, college, art or film school students; all with a valid student ID submitted on FilmFreeway with their work.

Past award winning films have included animations by an 8 yr old 1st time filmmaker to titles that hat gone on to Cannes and have been short listed for the Oscars.

We promote local filmmakers by showcasing their work and creating a collaborative space for the community and artists to share; all the while fostering the next generation of movie makers. We offer works in progress screening for local artists to get peer-to-peer and audience inspiration

Again, your movie may be any topic, any length and you may be of any age or locale. Student submissions need valid student ID submitted with the work on FilmFreeway. English subtitles will be required for works not in English.

Filmmakers with a 3 minute or so Hollywood parody using found objects should contact info@sweedefestpaslmbeach.com for inclusion in this raucous evening.
