The inaugural Ketchikan Dance Film Festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 30th 2023 in downtown Ketchikan, AK. Hosted by the bi-coastal nonprofit dance company Hughes And Vecchione Dance Projects, this is the first Dance Film Festival that will premiere in Ketchikan, Alaska. Official selections for the 2023 Ketchikan Dance Film Festival will be presented to a live audience during a free indoor screening at the downtown Ketchikan Coliseum Theatre.

-Submissions must, in some way, employ both choreographic concepts and the language of film. Documentation of live performances will not be accepted.

-Submission of films and supplementary documentation must take place exclusively through FilmFreeway. Selected films must provide a high-quality download of their film, artist bios, 1-2 screenshots or production photos, and as much supplementary information about the film as possible.

-Due to the brief one-evening length of our screening, priority will be given to films created in Alaska and films that are under 15 minutes in length.

-Artists must have copyright permissions for all submitted media and be able to demonstrate these rights upon request.

-By submitting, the artists grant Hughes And Vecchione Dance Projects the right to screen the film for the duration of the festival and agree to indemnify and hold Hughes And Vecchione Dance Projects harmless from any and all claims, actions, suits, procedures, costs, expenses, damages and liabilities arising from any copyright disputes.

-Once accepted into the festival, a film may not pull out of the festival or withdraw its submission.

-Entry fees are non-refundable

-Lastly, because our festival screening is free and open to the public we cannot accept submissions that include extreme violence or nudity.

My film was selected to take part in the Ketchikan Dance Film Festival Sept 2023! Was a wonderful experience having my film featured. I was able to attend in person and was surprised to see how supportive the local community was with the festival. The Q & A with Christina Hughes had many questions from the local community that attended. I also was able to attend the reception at an art gallery after to meet others. As an artist was amazing to visit Ketchikan and see why Alaska has influenced so many artists. This is a great festival to take part in easy to apply, and great communication throughout.
