I was the world's first professional MMA fighter in the flyweight division. I was ranked #2 in the World MMA Ranking.
I am also a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu who has won championships at the All-Japan and Asian championships.
I also ran an MMA and Brazilian jiu-jitsu gym, K.O. shooto Gym.
I am also a licensed Japanese traditional therapist (Judo Therapist, a nationally certified profession), and I have been running a chiropractic clinic and providing treatment for over 20 years.
Judo Therapy was developed by Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo.
In Japan, it is a treatment covered by health insurance.
But I am also a creator. I have written 29 books and created many works.
And I have many opportunities to meet so many interesting people. In the process, I interviewed them and started making videos of the interviews by myself.
While doing so, I realized that the way to express their minds, emotions, and hearts is through film.
And so I began a new career as a filmmaker.
Many of the films I’ve made are about professional wrestlers or martial artists.
One reason for this is that I was a martial artist myself and had a wide network of contacts in professional wrestling and martial arts.
And I myself can fully understand how they feel and the journey they’ve taken to get to this point.
I hope to continue making movies about MMA, martial arts, and professional wrestling.
What I want to convey through my films is “Japanese tradition and culture.”
That is why the title of my second film is “MMA Was Born in Japan: 1985.”
I believe that manga, anime, MMA, and Japanese professional wrestling are all part of Japanese culture.
Of course, I also want to preserve Japan’s traditional culture, which has existed since ancient times, through film.
If you're interested in Japanese subculture, traditions, culture, MMA, or pro wrestling, please feel free to contact me.
I'd love to collaborate with you on a project.
I'd also be happy to help in any way I can.
