Kel Owens made this short movie 'The Legend of the Bum-Barian' with his daughter Cheyenne Noel. She does the narration, cinematography and editing. Kel filmed it a little like the Grindhouse style movies from the 1970's...Kel Owens is an American Sag-Aftra Union Actor. He is known for being tall and rugged. He has been in feature films, television shows, short films, and commercials. Kel has played a variety of characters from cowboys, bikers, coal miner, a serial killer, a Judge and even the Devil. Kel Had a small role in 'Django Unchained'. Quentin Tarantino and Kel got along very good, cause both have a great since of humor. Quentin would joke calling Kel, "Kill" saying "Are you sure your name is Kel and not Kill, cause you look like one scary, mean-ass mother-F-er. They would laugh. Kel was in an episode of the ABC series 'Suburgatory'. Kel played a wack-out hippie guitar player in a Cult band with Mae Whitman as the lead singer. Lots of fun, lots of laughs. Kel was one of the leads in 'Cantina'. His character was a Texas Ranger. It was well received at The Hollyshorts film festival. Kel was the co-lead in 'Pineapple' written and directed by the talented Arkansan Stevenson. Kel was a Coal Miner family man set in the 1980's, it was a fan favorite at Sundance and The Tribeca film festivals. Kel played Edgar Allan Poe "Old Poe" in a short 'Ligeia' in a Edgar Allan Poe film festival. 'Ligeia' won an award. Kel has done commercials, Wendy's, Behr paints and Heartland Banks. Kel has done a few television pilots. One he was hired to play the lead being written by a husband, wife team. Kel was talking with them about plot ideas for his character and they liked it so much they sat down wrote it together. Kel added two more characters and wrote scenes and dialogue. Kel received a writer's credit in the pilot 'Rodeo & Juliet'. While filming the pilot they were setting up a scene to shoot but the director said he wasn't feeling 100% and told Kel to direct it. He said "It's one of the scenes you wrote, so direct it too". Kel got to direct for the first time and loved it. And thanked the directer many times. Kel has own production company 'Towering Entertainment Productions'. When he's not acting or writing for other projects, he's writing scripts and working on ideas and doing his own projects. Kel has said many times "I feel very fortunate and proud of the projects I have done and lucky to have worked with a lot wonderful talented people.
