The term WEIRD has such a wide meaning that a plethora of films could fit under its banner. As seasoned programmers, year after year we come across gems that are a bit harder to program in more niche specific events. We have therefore decided to create ''KIW!'' and create an opportunity to put forth those projects that have a harder time to fit into the ''mold''.

KEEP IT WEIRD! is a Montreal non-profit film festival focused on short films showcasing the weirdest and strangest films out on the festival circuit.

At KIW!, we don't program in accordance to genres, but to vibes. Our blocks are put together to flow naturally and tell a story. KEEP IT WEIRD! is about exploring the boundaries of storytelling and techniques.

KEEP IT WEIRD! also includes a short film competition for Quebec-based residents

Awards & Prizes

Films will be emailed a Laurel upon selection. Nominations and Winners will be emailed a Laurel after the festival, when winners are announced.

Laurel awards for the following categories:

- Audience Award
- Best Animation Film
- Best Film
- Weirdest film

Rules & Terms

By submitting you also agree and acknowledge the following fun legal terms:
- You own all rights necessary to be submitting your film, including music rights.
- You give KIW! The right to screen the project at the next edition of the festival.
- You give KIW! The right to use any stills, excerpts, titles and any other info related to the films for promotional purposes.
- You agree that by submitting, you could be selected to participate in the “best of” road show, sister events or other "one off" events (Selected projects will be informed prior).
- You have read and understood all the rules and comply.
