Karawan is the first film festival dedicated to the themes of immigration, integration and intermingling of cultures, narrated in a non-dramatic way. By addressing the complex universe of immigration with an ironic, amusing and joyful PoV, the event encourages people to share times and places in the name of cultural exchange fostering a sense of cooperation. The festival takes place in the multicultural district of Torpignattara in Rome.

Cash Awards (TBC) for Best Feature Film and Best Short Film

The present version is valid from February 12, 2024 and may be modified by the Karawan Fest at any time. Karawan is organized by the APS Bianco e Nero. Its principal subsidies are provided by public institutions through public calls, additional financing is provided by other associations, organizations, institutions and private partners.

The 13th Karawan Fest will take place in Rome from July 3-12, 2024. The location is an open-air arena in Parco Giordano Sangalli. The Festival is composed of:

* Official Competition (fiction feature films over 60 minutes in length, comedies only are eligible);
* Official Short Films Competition (this section is reserved for Italian productions; comedies only are eligible).

Karawan Fest favors films coming from countries with the most numerous communities in the district of Torpignattara: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China, Philippines, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Eritrea, Mali, Somalia, Nigeria, Senegal, Poland, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, PerĂ¹.

Juries invited by the Karawan Fest may not include persons directly associated with the production or exploitation of a film in the concerned competition. Prizes awarded are subject to changes in terms of quantity and amounts. The Festival reserves the right to apply changes to the awards based on various circumstances, including but not limited to availability of funds, sponsorship, and other unforeseen conditions. The Festival will inform the selected films of the specific awards to which they are entitled, providing details about the awarded quantities and amounts.
