Attention NORTHSTATE CALIFORNIA filmmakers of all ages. In conjunction with the upcoming PBS series, The Age of Nature airing October 14, 21 and 28, KIXE PBS is hosting an Online Film Festival. Whether it’s a revealing documentary, a tense drama or a slapstick comedy, film makers are asked to submit films that answer one of these questions in any style they wish:

1. What have our past mistakes taught us about nature
2. How is our understanding of nature changing the way we live?
3. As the challenges we face mount, where are we heading next?

Submission notables:

• All work must be original 3 MINUTES OR LESS - submitted via by October 23, • Eligible films must be all-age appropriate.
• Film Makers will be judged in two separate age groups
o Middle School and younger
o High School and Older

*By submitting a film, you are allowing KIXE PBS to use your submissions on their media platforms. KIXE PBS will not remit payment for any films submitted. Entries must agree to the rules and requirements of the festival.
Juried winners will be chosen on film making merit. Most popular film in each age group to be chosen by Facebook likes. Best Winning entries will participate in our online film festival on October 29 at 6 PM. The Best of KIXE PBS Online Film Festival will be aired November 5 at 7:30 PM on KIXE PBS.

The top film selections of The KIXE PBS Age of Nature Film Festival will be highlighted on the online festival on October 29, 2020 at 6PM . The best of film of the festival will appear on The Best of the KIXE PBS Age of Nature Film Festival to air at 7:30 PM November, 5 2020.


The Rules:

Share your own 3-MINUTE OR LESS original nature film that addresses:

1. What have our past mistakes taught us about nature
2. How is our understanding of nature changing the way we live?
3. As the challenges we face mount, where are we heading next?



The contest is open to NORTHSTATES CALIFORNIA residents of all ages.

Submission period:

Film submission September 24, 2020 through October 23, 2020.

Judging or voting:

A judging committee will review entries, winners will be notified end of October.

Top winners will be chosen from two age groups. Top winners will be chosen by popular vote via Facebook and by juried vote. Best of the juried selection and Popular vote selection are highlighted and discussed.

Film makers post a 3 minute or less nature themed story on FilmFreeway during the months of September and October 2020. Popular votes were tallied for best popular film via KIXE PBS Facebook page. Jury selection made by a panel of judges and chosen on film making merit. Film Jury will review effective storytelling, solution to the topic and technical achievement as a guide for film selection.

KIXE PBS will follow up via email with winners
Upon a confirmation response from the winners, KIXE PBS will announce the winners via posts on KIXE PBS Facebook page.

1. KIXE PBS will allow entry based upon its sole discretion and reserved the right to restrict any submissions for any reason.

3. KIXE PBS will bear no liability regarding the use of your entry, including without limitation, the film, and may use the film submitted in any way as it chooses, at its sole discretion.
