The Just Be You Performing Arts Youth Film Festival (Just Be You Festival for short) returns in August 2019. Our inaugural festival; held on September 29, 2018 in Bound Brook, New Jersey, was a huge success. We gave out gorgeous award trophies to filmmakers all over the world! It was a marvelous celebration of all that we produce artistically. With four strong years under our belt; as an innovative production company and mentoring organization. The debut of our festival was a continuation of our stellar reputation, for being "champions for children!"

Our VIP Guest of Honor, Dupre "DoItAll" Kelly, a legendary performing artists from Newark, New Jersey, a community activist (211 Community Impact), and a member of the platinum selling hip-hop recording group, "Lords of the Underground", gave a powerful motivational speech at the festival. Mr. Kelly will be returning for 2019 and we are very honored and proud to have him!

The festival was hosted by established and accomplished film & theater actress, Crystal NuChurch, of Jersey City, New Jersey. Crystal was amazing on stage and kept the audience engaged. We are excited to welcome her back as the host for 2019!

For the second season of this unique festival; we are adding more categories and opening up more opportunities to filmmakers in New Jersey, the birth place of Just Be You Performing Arts.

We will have an amazing interactive workshop for young artists; a symposium featuring industry professionals, as well as, an explosive talent competition; Season 2 of Just Be You Performing Arts Triple-Threat Talent Competition. The festival also includes presentations of short-plays and short-films. Finally, we put the icing on the cake, with a magnificent awards ceremony. Our Special Guest Performer for 2018; was 55-time award winning entertainer, BellaStar, an amazing child artists from Newark, New Jersey.

The second season of our festival will again be youth driven! We will bring filmmakers, playwrights, artists, and industry professionals together, to celebrate works that are relevant to today's youth. We are bridging the generational gap by incorporating an inclusive festival that gives both youth and adult filmmakers a voice and a platform.

We're also hosting the festival in 2019 at a new and better location; in the Newark, New Jersey area; which is centrally located, easily accessible by train, bus, or car, and is a wonderful location to reach more children. The festival will take place at the end of summer. It will be a great way to kick of film festival season in New Jersey!

There is no submission fee for youth filmmakers (age 5 to 17 year's-old) to submit a body of work to our festival. We are accepting submissions from filmmakers and playwrights as young as 5 year's old, because even a kindergartner deserves a voice and has something profound to say.

Open to submissions nation wide and world wide, but with a special encouragement for filmmakers in New Jersey. Female filmmakers and African-American filmmakers are especially encouraged to submit.

Adult filmmakers (over the age of 18) have a very low submission fee of just $20. We can not waive submission fees for adult filmmakers.

Audience members won't just sit and watch, they will engage and participate. Our festival will give audience members opportunities to get involved during the event with a variety of fun activities. The festival takes place completely on the main stage so our audience won't have to miss any of the action. For 2019; the festival will be broken into 4 separate segments. Part 1: workshops & seminar. Part 2: Film Screenings. Part 3: talent competition & awards ceremony. Part 4. Short-Play Festival

By attending and/or submitting to our festival; you'll benefit from a diverse event, great networking, food, entertainment, vendors, and talented artistry. The 2nd Annual Just Be You Performing Arts Youth Film Festival will be a family-friendly event that creates a mutually supportive community and a voice for all artists.

The festival is created and directed by award-winning triple-threat actress; Mahogany Reynolds (also known as Mahogany Reynolds-Clarke); who hails from Detroit, Michigan, where she began her versatile career as a performing artist. She is the founder/executive director of Just Be You Performing Arts and has successfully developed and produced over 20 productions in the state of New Jersey, all within just 2 years! She is also a seasoned coach and provides one-on-one customized; online and in-person, training for aspiring artist.
