Sixty seconds. One idea. Infinite impact.

The Just A Minute Film Festival is a global celebration of the "short-short." We believe that the tightest constraints produce the most explosive creativity. In a world of shrinking attention spans and scrolling feeds, the ability to tell a complete, moving, or hilarious story in exactly 60 seconds (or less) is the ultimate test of a filmmaker’s craft.

We aren't looking for trailers, and we aren't looking for "scenes" from longer projects. We are looking for complete cinematic experiences that land a punch, twist the knife, or spark a laugh before the clock runs out.

What We’re Looking For
Whether you are a seasoned pro or a first-time creator with a smartphone, we want to see how you master the "Micro-Narrative." Successful submissions typically lean into one of these winning frameworks:

The Twist Reveal: Set an expectation, build the assumption, and flip the script in the final five seconds.

The Visual Gag: A rhythmic, escalating joke that needs zero dialogue to land.

The Micro-Drama: A single, poignant moment of change, decision, or realization.

The Visual Poem: High-craft, atmospheric pieces where imagery and sound design take center stage.

The Countdown: Stories that use the 60-second limit as a narrative engine, building tension in real-time.

The "Golden Rules" of Just A Minute
To stand out to our jury, remember the Power of One:

One Clear Idea: If you can’t pitch it in 10 seconds, it’s too big. Focus on one moment, one reveal, or one turn.

Start in Motion: There is no runway. Open mid-conflict or with an image that instantly sparks curiosity.

Ruthless Editing: If a shot or a line of dialogue doesn’t move the story forward, cut it. Every frame is prime real estate.

Visual First: The best one-minute films are understandable with the sound off. Let your eyes tell the story.

The Landing: Don't just "stop"—land. Leave the audience with a mental afterimage.

Why Submit?
Just A Minute isn't just a screening; it's a showcase of efficiency. Our selected films are curated into high-energy blocks that keep audiences engaged and juries on the edge of their seats.
