Appalachian Film Festival

The Johnson City Film Festival has expanded to become the Appalachian Film Festival! Our region is rich in creative arts and we are excited to invite you to submit to a festival surrounded by beautiful mountains, small town charm, and an audience eager for quality filmmaking.

We have categories for feature, short, documentary, student, and local, as well as awards for multiple categories.

Our screenings will take place in Johnson City and throughout the Appalachian Highlands region. The weekend is sure to be filled with amazing experiences and you have the opportunity to be part of the film revolution in Northeast Tennessee!

Prizes will be awarded, specific amounts and categories to be determined at a later date.

Rules of entry:

DIGITAL SUBMISSION ONLY

Films should be submitted online, via private or password protected Vimeo or YouTube links. Please ensure password is supplied with link.

Films must be submitted complete with English commentary and/or English dialogue or in the original version with English subtitles.

All submitting filmmakers and distributors will be notified of the official selections prior to the festival.

By submitting this film, I understand that I am agreeing to the following:

I own or control the copyright in and to, and am duly authorized to submit this film to the Johnson City Film Festival;

This film contains no material which could result in tort claims, royalty claims, claims for breach of contract, or claims of any sort whatsoever;

Filmmakers give permission to festival to use press kits, stills, short excerpts from any film accepted for exhibition for marketing and promotional purposes.

I had an absolute blast attending a workshop, meeting new people and screening a movie. Johnson City is a hidden gem and they've placed this festival right in the heart of the community which instantly immerses you into the charm of this place and the storytellers and film lovers who call it home.

Johnson City Film Festival has accomplished more in their first year than many other festivals have with multiple years under their belt. The organizers are simply wonderful people who clearly have a passion for their festival, and that shows from the opening communication via email, to the closing night of the the JCFF, and beyond. It's easy to make friends with these people, and we look forward to returning regardless if we have a film selected. Oh, and Johnson City is a charming town filled with breweries, shops, and fantastic restaurants. This road trip from Michigan was worth it, and we recommend other filmmakers to consider making the trip. You don't want to miss this one!!
