João Azevedo is a 23-year-old student with a degree in Fine Arts. Having always been immersed in various forms of artistic expression, his passion for cinema has been evident since childhood. His first short film as a higher education student, Não Sei Quantas Almas Tenho (I Do Not Know How Many Souls I Have), was inspired by a poem of the same name by the iconic Portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa.
João went on to study film at Escola Superior Artística do Porto, in pursuit of his dream to become a director. Since then, he has written and directed 私の告白 – My Own Confession, an independent film shot in Cremona, Italy.
Created entirely independently, the film is part of his personal journey to become a filmmaker. My Own Confession is a devastating meditation on loss, memory, and self-hatred — a raw and intimate glimpse into the human psyche.
