The Longleaf Studio Student Film Festival at Jacksonville State University is a festival focused on the work of college and high school filmmakers in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.

Filmmakers MUST confirm that they are a current high school or an undergraduate college student in Alabama, Tennessee, or Georgia to be considered for selection to the festival.

High school films will be screened ahead of college film with a short break in between. Awards will be presented after all films have screened.

Awards & Prizes

Awards will be given in the following categories:
Best of Show* - High School
Best of Show* - College

*Best of Show winners will also receive one submission waiver to submit their film to the 27th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, AL and the director will receive a one year of a student membership to Sidewalk Cinema and Film Center.

Plaques or certificates may also be offered in the following categories:
Silver Medal
Directing
Production Design
Cinematography
Performance(s)
Editing

Rules & Terms

The entrant must be a current high school or college student in Alabama, Georgia, or Tennessee.
The entrant must be the producer, director or writer of the film.
All film entries must have been created while you were in high school or college.
Only films completed after January 15, 2024 are eligible.
All submissions are due by January 5th, 2025, for judging purposes.
All entries must be 15 minutes or less including credits.
All genres allowed.
You must have the legal right or approval to enter this work.
Films must be uploaded to FilmFreeway, YouTube or Vimeo, files must be downloadable.
If accepted to screen at the festival. final high-resolution output must be delivered by April 1st, 2025.
