Italian Horror Fantasy Fest

From July 28th to October 12th, 2025, filmmakers can submit feature films and short films, both national and international, through dedicated festival platforms (accepting the current regulations in all its articles). The festival welcomes all works produced from 2024 until the last eligible day for submission, even if they have participated in other film festivals.

Authors and owners of registered works not only fully accept the regulations but also grant the organization the right to publicly showcase their registered film.

The works submitted to the Festival will be selected by an internal jury.

All horror, thriller and fantasy genre works received no later than October 12th, 2025, in Italian or foreign languages with subtitles in Italian or English, which must be related with the Festival’s theme, will be considered.

The submission of a work implies full and unconditional acceptance of the regulations regarding the work’s selection and its potential inclusion in the Festival’s program. In case of disagreement, the decision of the artistic direction will prevail.

The registration will be considered a document proving the total acceptance of the regulation by the person who registered the film and of participation in the event. Registration fees will not be refunded under any circumstances, even if the work is withdrawn from the competition.

RELEASE:
The owners of the rights to the submitted works in and out of competition are legally responsible for the published content. By accepting the regulations and registering the work, they grant the release for public viewing within the activities of the festival.
After registration, the release form template will be sent by the Festival's secretariat and must be filled out and submitted via email to the following address: italianhorrorfantasyfest@gmail.com.

Additionally, the release guarantees and absolves the festival from any liability regarding unauthorized video and audio content copyright violations.

OFFICIAL SELECTION:
After an initial selection by the internal jury established at Etiopia Lab, five short films and five feature films will be nominated as finalists.
The artistic direction reserves the right to select one or more additional works worthy of nomination.

The official selection announcement will be made public on October 19th, 2025.

OUT OF COMPETITION:
The artistic director has the authority to invite films and exclusive premiere’s, which are not included in competition.

All registered films and short films will be stored in the Festival’s archive.

FORMATS FOR SELECTION:
The enrolled film must be made immediately available for download, along with the subtitled trailer and official poster and banner. Alternatively, the download link for the files can be sent to the Secretariat address: italianhorrorfantasyfest@gmail.com

SUBTITLES:
In addition to the video file, providing SRT format subtitles in English for Italian films and in Italian or English for international films is mandatory.

SCREENING FORMATS:
Finalist short films and feature films must be delivered by October 27th, 2025, in DCP Cinema format compliant with screening standards. In case this format is unavailable, to ensure perfect screening quality, files can be sent to the Festival’s partner post-production laboratory. The cost of the service will be covered by the participant. For foreign language finalist works, the subtitle file in Italian will be required.

EVENT:
The event will take place on Saturday, November 1st, at the Casa del Cinema – Sala Cinecittà in Rome.

HOSPITALITY:
The Festival organization will invite finalist directors to the gala evening concluding the event but will not cover travel and accommodation expenses. Each participant acknowledges that accredited media partners and other media partners will be present at the Festival, which may conduct television shoots, interviews, radio broadcasts, social media live streams, etc. By accepting to participate in the Festival and signing this regulation, each participant recognizes the media partner's right to conduct any type of shooting, even in the presence of sponsor brands, and freely assigns any broadcasting image rights, allowing the media partner to use such footage as needed, even with interruptions of advertising messages, and may potentially transfer them to third parties.

QUALITY JURY:
A quality jury is planned within the Festival, composed of personalities from the cinema and culture, who have not collaborated in any way with the creation of the competing works. The Jury, at its incontestable discretion, will choose one short film and one feature film from the finalist works. The Jury President has the authority to cast a decisive vote in the event of a tie or disagreement with other jurors, also considering the opinion of the artistic director if a decision on the winners is not reached.

Dal 28 Luglio fino al 12 Ottobre 2025, sarà possibile iscrivere lungometraggi e cortometraggi, nazionali ed internazionali, attraverso le piattaforme dedicate ai festival, (accettando il presente regolamento in tutti i suoi articoli). Il Festival ammette tutte le opere prodotte dal 2024 fino all'ultimo giorno utile per l'iscrizione, anche in caso di partecipazione ad altre rassegne cinematografiche.

Gli autori e i proprietari delle opere registrate, non solo accettano il regolamento integralmente ma concedono all'organizzazione di poter mostrare pubblicamente il proprio film iscritto.

Le opere iscritte al Festival saranno selezionate da una giuria interna.

Saranno tenute in considerazione tutte le opere di genere horror, thriller e fantastico pervenute entro e non oltre la data del 12 Ottobre 2025, in lingua italiana o straniera con sottotitoli in italiano o inglese, che dovranno essere a tema con il Festival.

L’invio dell’opera implica la piena e incondizionata accettazione del regolamento in ordine alla selezione dell’opera stessa e al suo eventuale inserimento nel programma del Festival. In caso di disaccordo varrà la decisione della direzione artistica.

L’iscrizione sarà considerata documento comprovante la totale accettazione del regolamento da parte di chi ha registrato il film e dell’adesione alla manifestazione.
I costi d’iscrizione non verranno rimborsati in nessun caso, nemmeno qualora l’opera venisse ritirata dal concorso.

LIBERATORIA:
I proprietari dei diritti delle opere iscritte in concorso e fuori concorso sono responsabili legalmente dei contenuti pubblicati. Accettando il regolamento, con l’iscrizione dell’opera concedono la liberatoria per la pubblica visione all'interno delle attività della rassegna. Dopo l'iscrizione, il modello della liberatoria verrà inviato dalla segreteria del Festival e dovrà essere compilato e consegnato via email all'indirizzo: italianhorrorfantasyfest@gmail.com

La liberatoria, inoltre, garantisce e solleva il Festival da qualsiasi responsabilità in merito alla violazione dei diritti di copyright su contenuti video e audio non autorizzati.

SELEZIONE UFFICIALE:
Dopo una prima selezione da parte della giuria interna, costituita presso Etiopia Lab, saranno nominati i cinque cortometraggi e i cinque lungometraggi finalisti.
La direzione artistica si riserva il diritto di selezionare anche una o più opere meritevoli di nomination.

La comunicazione della selezione ufficiale sarà resa pubblica il 19 Ottobre 2025.

FUORI CONCORSO:
Il direttore artistico ha facoltà di invitare film e anteprime esclusive, che non rientrano nella competizione.

Tutti i film e i cortometraggi iscritti saranno conservati nell’archivio del Festival.

FORMATI PER LA SELEZIONE:
Il film iscritto dovrà essere reso subito disponibile per il download, insieme al trailer sottotitolato, alla locandina ufficiale e banner grafico. In alternativa, è possibile inviare il link di scaricamento files all’indirizzo della segreteria: italianhorrorfantasyfest@gmail.com

SOTTOTITOLI:
E' obbligatorio fornire, oltre al file video, anche i sottotitoli in formato SRT in lingua inglese per i film italiani e in italiano o inglese per i film internazionali.

FORMATI PER LA PROIEZIONE:
I lungometraggi e i cortometraggi finalisti e fuori concorso dovranno essere consegnati entro il 27 Ottobre 2025, obbligatoriamente in formato DCP Cinema conforme allo standard di proiezione. Nel caso in cui non si disponga di tale formato, per garantire la perfetta qualità di proiezione in sala, i file potranno essere inviati al laboratorio di post-produzione partner del Festival. Il costo del servizio è a carico del partecipante.
Per le opere finaliste in lingua straniera verrà richiesto il file dei sottotitoli in italiano.

EVENTO:
La manifestazione si svolgerà Sabato 1 Novembre, presso la Casa del Cinema - Sala Cinecittà (Roma).

OSPITALITA’:
L’organizzazione del Festival inviterà i registi finalisti per la serata di gala che chiuderà la manifestazione, ma senza farsi carico delle spese di viaggio e soggiorno.
Ciascun partecipante prende atto che presso il Festival saranno presenti testate accreditate ed altri media partners che potranno effettuare riprese televisive, interviste, collegamenti radiofonici, dirette social etc. Accettando di partecipare al Festival e sottoscrivendo il presente regolamento, ciascun partecipante riconosce il diritto dei media partner ad effettuare qualsivoglia tipo di riprese anche in presenza di marchi sponsor e cede gratuitamente ogni diritto di trasmissione della propria immagine, permettendo che il media partner utilizzi tali riprese secondo le proprie esigenze, anche con interruzioni di messaggi pubblicitari e possa eventualmente cederle a terzi.

GIURIA DI QUALITA’:
Nell’ambito del Festival è prevista una Giuria di qualità, composta da personalità del cinema e della cultura, che non abbiano in alcun modo collaborato alla realizzazione delle opere in concorso. La Giuria, a suo insindacabile giudizio, sceglierà tra le opere finaliste un cortometraggio e un lungometraggio.
Il Presidente della giuria ha facoltà di esprimere un voto decisivo in caso di pareggio o disaccordo con gli altri giurati, ascoltando anche il parere del direttore artistico nel caso in cui non si dovesse raggiungere una decisione sui vincitori.
