Isabel Barajas
(Mexico City, 1992)
She began her training at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of UNAM Mexico City, where she studied two years of the Dramatic Literature and Theater program before entering the National School of Cinematographic Arts (ENAC-UNAM), where she specialized in directing.
In 2016, she expanded her experience by participating in the Audiovisual Production Workshop in Los Angeles, California, organized by the Bergman Chair of UNAM and California State University of Northridge. Additionally, she was part of the Mezcal Jury at the 31st Guadalajara International Film Festival.
From 2018 to 2020, she worked as a casting coordinator at BM Casting, participating in notable projects such as "El hoyo en la cerca," directed by Joaquín del Paso.
Since 2019, she has been an adjunct professor in acting direction at ENAC-UNAM and the Center for Cinematographic Training (CCC).
Her career as a producer and coordinator in short and feature film projects includes collaborations with companies such as Mandarina Cine and Cárcava Cine, where she has worked with producers like Fernanda de la Peza and Joaquín del Paso.
Winner of the Hack Mafiz 2022, awarded by the Malaga Festival, an event in her industry aimed at new talents in the audiovisual sector, and selected director in the fifth edition of the International Film Residence "Castello Errante" in Italy.
Additionally, her short film "Knock at the Door" won the "Best Short Fiction Film Award" at the Blink Film Festival 2021, and her script "Under The Sun" was awarded in the IMCINE contest "Nárralo en primera persona."
Currently, she stands out in casting direction, participating in important film projects such as "Adiós, amor," the debut film by Indra Villaseñor, produced by ENAC-UNAM and the Mexican Institute of Cinematography, as well as in other productions like "Ana no quiere que la vean bailar," the debut film by Gabriel Herrera, produced by Cárcava Cine, and "El conserje," the debut film by Mauro Mueller and David Figueroa, produced by Fidelio Films. She has also collaborated on projects such as "Violentas Mariposas," directed by Adolfo Dávila and produced by Mandarina Cine, and "Génesis" by Magaly Ugarte.
