The Inthrive Film Festival is the only touring film festival celebrating the voices and talents of incarceration survivors. By elevating voices of incarceration survivors and bringing community organizations and leaders together we are using film and art to change the narrative about what it means to have survived incarceration.

We're excited to see your submission!

The Inthrive Film Festival is open to both short and long form submissions of scripted and documentary films. The only requirement is that the film must include the talents of someone who has been incarcerated. This can include acting, directing, screenwriting, cinematography, and other prominent roles.

We'll be kicking off our fourth season in Richmond, VA, from October 1-4, 2026 with a reception on Friday, October 2, at First Baptist Church and a closing celebration on Sunday, October 4 at Studio Two Three. From there, films will be part of our touring festival. Our 2025-26 season has 15 events planned in 8 states.

The leadership and judges of Inthrive Film Festival are all justice impacted and are excited to be able to amplify the skills and talents of those previously incarcerated so others can see their talents.

David has initiated a much- needed venue for formerly incarcerated and justice-impacted people to express themselves artistically. We were honored to participate with our short film which centers on two formerly incarcerated women. The festival merged a visual art display with select films and a room full of organizations who aid reentry from prison ( who were available to talk with and give info.) David seems to be well- supported and has a great network of people behind his festival. I highly recommend others who fall within his mission, to submit- and of course to attend!
