The 8th edition of the International Choreographic Festival of Blois will take place in Blois, France, in July 2027.

The Festival is dedicated to bringing the art of dance to France's Loire Valley region while making it accessible to a wider audience. Through performances, dance film screenings, masterclasses, creative workshops, and community outreach events, the Festival celebrates dance in all its forms and fosters meaningful connections between artists and the public.

For the 2027 edition, the Festival will present three film screening programs, each approximately one hour long, at Cinéma Les Lobis, located in the heart of Blois. We are currently seeking:
- Short films of up to 25 minutes in length.
- One feature-length dance film or documentary of approximately 60 minutes.

The Festival showcases choreography created for the camera, dance documentaries, and films in which movement plays a central role. We welcome submissions from filmmakers, choreographers, and artists whose work explores dance, physical expression, and movement in innovative and engaging ways.

We encourage all dance- and movement-related films to apply.

Awards & Prizes

Selected filmmakers will be eligible for the following awards:
- Audience Choice Award
- Jury Award

All officially selected films will receive the Festival's "Official Selection 2027" laurel.
The winners will also receive an additional award laurel, either the Audience Choice Award or the Jury Award.
All laurels will be sent to the selected filmmakers by email following the conclusion of the Festival.

Rules & Terms

- Max running time for short-films : 25 minutes
- Max running time for full evening film/documentary : 1 hour
- Applicants must hold all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions for the use of all individuals, music, images, and other copyrighted or third-party materials included in the film
- Selection for the Festival does not include any financial contribution, screening fee, travel reimbursement, or accommodation from the Festival
- Selected filmmakers are welcome to attend the Festival at their own expense. Subject to scheduling and availability, a Q&A session with the audience may be organized following the screening of their film.
- By submitting a film, applicants grant the International Choreographic Festival of Blois the non-exclusive right to use excerpts, still images, and related promotional materials for Festival publicity, including on its website and social media channels.
- If selected, applicants agree to comply with all Festival deadlines for submitting required materials, including high-resolution images, a synopsis, director and artist biographies, and any other requested promotional content.

    Nous sommes heureux d'avoir été sélectionné au Festival Chorégraphique International Blois Danse. Nous avons pu participer à ce bel évènement pluridisciplinaire. Il faut savoir qu'il regroupe differentes partie. Une partie avec des spectacles (des créations de chorégraphes internationaux) dans un magnifique théâtre, une autre partie avec des stages donnés par des chorégraphes invités proposant différentes esthétiques de danse aux festivaliers et la dernière partie une superbe programmation de films venant du monde entier sur deux jours. Nous avons été accueilli avec une bienveillance et une générosité incroyable. Nous avons pu également échanger avec les spectateurs au sujet de notre film. Nous avons également pu créer des liens avec les danseurs qui se produisaient sur scène. Si vous êtes réalisateurs, danseurs ou tout simplement passionnés de danse ce festival est incontournable et fait pour vous. Merci pour ce merveilleux moment à Blois. Merci à toute l'équipe de l'organisation.

    We were over the moon that our film was selected for this year’s festival! I am based in Los Angeles and sadly was unable to secure travel plans to attend the festival itself this year, but what I can say is the coordinators were very helpful, kind, and generous! They provided superb French subtitles for us to add to our film, answered all of our questions, and I felt their festival film trailer was absolutely professional and top notch! Considering the festival also includes (as per their website) live dance performances and dance classes throughout, I would definitely try to make it over to Blois one of these summer’s to actually experience it!

    Looking at the festival - it has a wonderful concept altogether. Dancing, choreography, performances and of course the wonderful film-programm.

    We had the honour to be featured on this festival, thank you again for encouraging the creation of dance on screen. The communication was flawless, even after the festival. Keep in mind that the festival is a choreography festival and the main focus is this and therefor is not a film festival. I would definitely consider submitting again to this festival.
