CURRENT THEME: SPRING

We are looking for short films, documentaries, animations, experimental and music videos on:

- The Environment
- Spring
- Human Rights
- Animal Welfare

Please DO NOT submit your film if it doesn't follow one of those themes.

Please note that we are predominantly a TV festival!

Inheritance is an environmental festival which takes place three times a year: Spring, Summer and Winter. Our aim is to educate, inspire and raise awareness of contemporary environmental issues, and to showcase the work of independent filmmakers from all over the globe.

Our TV festival will be screened on Latest TV in Brighton, Northern Visions in Belfast and Sheffield Live! in Sheffield, and livestreamed on the channels' websites. If your film is selected, it will be seen by thousands more than at a conventional film festival!

Please ensure you have all the rights to your film (including music) before submitting.

Please note, as we are independent, not-for-profit, community channels, we are unable to offer broadcasting fees.

The Inheritance Festival does not have premiere status requirements.

Inheritance reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any projects submitted. If accepted, you must be able to provide the festival with a downloadable export of your film, as well as at least one high-quality still image for promotional purposes.

For purposes of submission, all films must be submitted as online screeners through FilmFreeway. Submitted films must be complete. Works-in-progress will not be accepted. All material in your film must be your own original work - you must have the rights to all images, music, and on-screen talent featured in your film. Films that do not adhere to copyright laws will be disqualified.

By submitting your film, you acknowledge that you are giving permission to Inheritance to broadcast your film on local television channels in the U.K. and Northern Ireland during the duration of the festival, and to utilize still images and trailers from your film for non-commercial use in promoting the event. Submission of your film also indicates consent to the copyright agreement below.

COPYRIGHT AGREEMENT

I state that I am authorized to submit this film to Inheritance for consideration, and have read, understood, and agree to all the requirements. I hereby release the Festival from all responsibility for loss of or damage to submitted materials. As this is a competitive festival, I understand there are no guarantees that my film will be accepted for screening. Entry materials will not be returned.

I agree that I have secured all necessary rights for both picture and sound, and exhibition will not violate or infringe upon any rights including, but not limited to music, images, and content.

  • It is a unique and important festival. I think the television aspect makes this a great platform because TV as opposed to traditional festivals increases viewership and audience demographics
