Idromeno International Film Festival is based in Shkoder (Albania).
Since its beginning, its aim has been to emerge as a new voice that through cinematography can be a new way of looking at our contemporary world, both underlining its fractures and trying to find another way of thinking.
Too much often we use to consider philosophy as a subject relegated to a metaphysical layer and far away from the real world in which our everyday life keeps flowing. Cinematography can do the magic and be the tipping point: through the story and the screen it shows these themes imbued into the scene, entangled in our routines and near us beyond all imagination.

This edition Idromeno International Film Festival invites all the directors whose journey in cinema is poetic, spiritual, the kind that dives into the very essence of the human being. We expect narratives that dwell into the core of the human being, with all the beauties and horrible things that challenge us everyday. This year Idromeno International Film Festival celebrates thriving in life, love and peace.

Please note that award eligibility is subject to any restrictions or conditions imposed by applicable laws and regulations (international, state or otherwise) and the award recipient is responsible for all applicable taxes and similar (if any).

Rules & Terms

Selected projects from all categories will be presented to the public at Idromeno IFF 4th Edition that will be held in Shkodra, Albania, from 3d to 9th October 2026 (Idromeno IFF 2026).
Films that are submitted must have English subtitles and be available in DCP and MP4 format.
Films that are submitted must not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of any third Parties.
Multiple entries are not accepted, directors are allowed to apply with one project only.

Selection process will take in account:
- Feature Film (60+ minutes in length)
- Short Film (length in between 2 and 30 minutes)
- Student Film (made by young directors which are still students)
- Animation Film (animation films must be submitted according to their time lengths)

Please note that documentaries and music video will not be taken into consideration

Once the selection process is nearly complete , our designated team will contact the filmmakers from the pre-selection to confirm their continued interest in participating and to clarify any eventual doubt or question.
It’s important to reply and confirm your availability to proceed with the official selection.

    A small but great festival i beautiful Shkodër, Albania. In 2025 filmmakers were invited with trips and hotel paid for (perhaps it will not always be so). Unfortunately the cinema was under renovations and the festival had to be held in an aula instead. A dedicated team, great hospitality and a very nice experience. Bring hiking shoes and try to make excursions!
