≪What is ISCA≫

This is an International creative award for students from universities, graduate schools, and vocational schools in Japan and overseas. The domestic category accepts applications on a school / teacher basis.

Our vision is to connect the audiences with the best film works and inspire students to maximize their young talent and creativity. We are aiming to generate new value through ISCA, which will attract widespread interest throughout the world!

≪Submission of Work≫

≪HIGHLIGHT of ISCA≫

≪Entry Requirements & Application Eligibility≫
● Only works created after January 1, 2025 are applicable for ISCA2025.
● Students graduated from school after January 1, 2025 can also submit their works.
● Any students enrolled in universities, graduate schools, junior colleges, vocational schools around the world are welcome to apply for ISCA.
● All non-English language films must be subtitled in English.
● Form: Any moving image contents. (Live-action, Animation, Computer Graphics etc.)
● The title and creator‘s name must be inserted at the beginning of the video.
● Format: Must be submitted in “mp4” format.
● Duration: 20 minutes maximum.
● File Size: 2GB maximum.

≪Rules and Terms≫
By participating in the ISCA2026 (here in after referred to as the ‘Contest’), all entrants agree to the terms and conditions stated by Knowledge Capital (here in after referred to as ‘the Organizer’).

● This contest is held for students only. Entrants must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.
● Both group and Individual applicants may submit more than one videos.
● The entrants can submit past works submitted to different competitions and/or the works that will be submitted in future. In such cases, the entrants must inform the Organizer of competition details including their names, dates, and the results if it was the past.
● All entrants must consent to our use of the submitted artwork at the Contest for promotion.
● The submitted works must be original.
● Submitted works will not be returned.
● All entries must not infringe upon the rights of any third party, including privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, contract right, and any other intellectual property right.
● These provisions apply to the total content used in the entry including video images, voices, music, photographs, and designs. The Organizer accepts no liability towards the the applicants in case of infringement of the third party’s copyrights.
● Any entry that offends public order and morals will be rejected.
● The Organizer takes no responsibility for any data loss, hardware malfunction or damages from unforeseen circumstances. (It is highly recommended for entrants to backup your data.)

≪Requests Regarding Copyrights≫
● Submitted works must be original and must not infringe on any copyrights, likeness rights, trademark rights or personal privacy rights, or violate the rules of public order and standard decency.
● The original music or songs can be used as much as possible. Entrants must ensure there is no infringement that might hinder the uses of the entries when using an existing piece of music (including open sources).
● If an existing music is performed or arranged by the entrant or other person, the consent to the uses must be provided.
● When using existing music, images, or any other material (including open sources) which the 3rd party possesses its rights, it is mandatory for the entrants to clarify to on the Entry Description by attaching 3rd party’s agreement form.

    ISCA only showcases a handful of international films every year, but it is extremely worth it if you get in. I was a finalist in 2020 and I was very impressed by the amount of work, preparation, and polish that the organizers brought to the table. They had to cancel a paid trip to Japan, but they somehow still exceeded all my expectations. This reads like hyperbole but it really isn't.

    They were flexible with requests and highly engaged with the filmmakers from start to finish. Even after the festival ended the festival representative was still gathering personalized feedback and looking for additional opportunities for us.

    Even in pandemic times they did multiple interviews, a networking session with translators, and a really elaborate prize ceremony.
