INDIE FILM LA - Monthly OPEN MIC Screenings. PLEASE BE A LOS ANGELES or SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Filmmaker living near LOS ANGELES. We hold in-person screenings and Q&As throughout each month.

***IMPORTANT note FilmFreeway event & notification dates are used as reference dates only. We do not stick to these dates at all. We screen several times a month and will reach out to all those selected throughout the months and year***

Entry is FREE but if accepted we simply ask you to purchase a ticket - and don't forget to invite your cast, crew, friends and family. We hold several screening events EVERY MONTH in the heart of Los Angeles, in our state of the art cinema space. Short films are submitted through FilmFreeway. At each event filmmakers introduce their film, discuss their work with other creatives, have Q&As after each screening, getting immediate and essential feedback while networking in the theatre patio afterwards. If you're interested in the filmmaking process, want to develop community and broaden your networking then you should join us.

If you attend your screening you will receive an OFFICIAL SELECTION CERTIFICATE, an OFFICIAL LAUREL and there will be red carpet photo ops available. We do not give out awards or judge films beyond this selection process.

INDIE FILM LA is a collaboration between several major film festivals, industry meetups, cinema and distribution companies in Los Angeles - incl. the INDIE FILMMAKERS MEETUP, HOLLYWOOD HORRORFEST, LOS ANGELES ANIMATION FESTIVAL, FILMFEST DISTRIBUTION, B&B FESTIVAL, PARALLAX STUDIOWORKS and the SOHO CINEMA CLUB. With access to industry professionals and up and coming filmmakers it's the perfect place to develop and learn as a filmmaker. We're all about creating an inclusive community-focused space, designed to screen new work, from both new and established filmmakers. Our goal is to inspire and create a continuing indie film community.

INDIE FILM LA - Monthly OPEN MIC Screenings. PLEASE BE A LOS ANGELES or SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Filmmaker living near LOS ANGELES.

Although we do not give out awards (this is primarily an artistic/critical feedback and industry mixer series of screening events) all OFFICIAL SELECTION entries get an OFFICIAL SELECTION laurel. If you attend your screening in Los Angeles you will receive an OFFICIAL SELECTION CERTIFICATE.

These are essentially OPEN MIC Q&A screenings. What we do is give filmmakers the chance to talk about their work in our venue, to an audience of their peers and like-minded filmmakers, have a Q&A after the screening and have photo ops with cast, crew and friends to celebrate their achievement.

After the screenings both filmmakers and our special guests mingle in the theater's patio. It's a space where filmmakers can talk about their work, get critical and essential feedback from like-minded creatives, while networking and establishing future artistic and career connections.

copied post - My short film The King of Paper City made its US Premier yesterday at Indie Film LA in Los Angeles. It premiered in the UK in 2024 but I did not attend.

Indie Film LA is a great venue to screen shorts for LA-area independent filmmakers, it involves a filmmaker Q&A with the audience immediately after each screening.

Interacting with the audience after hearing several people giggling and laughing during the screening was a heart-warming and surprising experience, something I missed because I didn't travel to the UK for the World Premiere. It was also inspiring to be selected among thousands of LA-area filmmakers.

Miles, the moderator and audience comments caused me to see more potential - maybe it could be extended into a TV series or feature like the Legos animation franchise. | produced this 3 minute Quentin Tarantino-inspired short in my garage in San Francisco in 2017 using paper towels and toilet paper, with hats, sunshades, Sharpie pen, Hollywood blood, all on a folding table then added my edited voice for all 7 characters. 🎥🎉👏.

  • The entire festival was so beautifully organized and presented. I love the way Miles, the Festival Director, gave time and attention to each film-maker after their screening. Miles is the consumate Host- thoughtful, perceptive, humorous and kind! The whole experience creates such a positive community of film-makers!

I had a fantastic time attending this event as both a participant and a spectator. It's wonderful for filmmakers from all walks of life to have a stage in which to share their works.
