The Hurghada International Youth Film Festival is an annual festival which is established by screenwriter Mohamed El Basousy, journalist Kadry El Hagar, journalist Ahmed El Nagar, journalist Sherif Saleh and organized by the Arts for Culture and Media Foundation in Hurghada, Red Sea Governorate, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, and is supported by Egyptian and international public and private institutions. Among its goals is to promote and spread cinematic awareness and culture, promote Egyptian cinema and support films made by young people and also films that deal with youth issues in Egypt and the whole world. Also, introducing cinematic works from different countries around the world.

Hurghada International Youth Film Festival awards are distributed as follows:
Feature Competition Awards:
*The Golden Award for Best Feature Film, awarded to the producer.
*Silver Award for Best Feature Film, awarded to the director.
*Bronze Award for Best Feature Film, awarded to the director.
*Best screenplay award.
*Best Director Award.
*Best Actor Award.
*Best Actress Award.
*It is not allowed to withhold any award or to or to give the award to more than one winner.
Short Film Competition Awards:
*The Golden Award for Best Short Film, awarded to the director.
*Silver Award for Best Short Film, awarded to the director.
*Bronze Award for Best Short Film, awarded to the director.
**It is not allowed to withhold any award or to or to give the award to more than one winner.
Student Competition Prizes:
*The Golden Award for Best Student Film, awarded to the director.
*The Silver Award for Best Student Film, awarded to the director.
*The Bronze Award for Best Student Film, awarded to the director.
**It is not allowed to withhold any award or to or to give the award to more than one winner.

Rules & Terms

General conditions for participation in all sections of the festival:
*Films are screened in their original language with English subtitles, or both English and Arabic subtitles.
*Arab films are screened with English subtitles.
*It is absolutely not allowed to withdraw any of the films from the various competitions, after it has been programmed or during the festival.
*The festival accepts selected films through links orhard copies (DCP) , (HD) or (Blu-ray).
*Each film participating in the festival will have three screenings maximum.
*The festival has the right to show any film that participated in this edition two or three times (by special agreement) after the festival in other activities that are organized by the festival’s institution in 2025 or 2026.
*The festival management undertakes to preserve the copies of the films received from the time they reach the festival office until they are shipped back to their countries.
*All conditions and dates specified in the previous articles are obligatory.

    As my first finalist
    The film festival has selected the films I shot with my mobile phone. I believe this is a valuable film festival that focuses on the inner expression of the films, and I feel very honored
    And there are founders who can engage in some email interactions, solving the problem of uploading videos
    Very considerate in meeting my needs for further education, I provided a certificate of admission, and of course, it would be even more perfect if it could be stamped with an official seal.
    The first grand event can be found on Google, and as a film festival with the participation of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, I think it is very valuable. I hope it can continue to improve!

    I usually wish to contact with the festival team before the selections, only to know about the love they have for the festival they are part of. Most of them don't even have the correct contact number. As a filmmaker from India i am more than happy if good response i receive. I will give 100 marks to the people behind this fabulous film festival for their communication with filmmakers. Our movie POOVU (Flower) won bronze award in long film category this year (2024). Congratulations to all the winners. Prayers and wishes to all behind this festival. Would love to attend the festival in person.

    Hundreds of people in opening and closing ceremony but No General audience in the theatre to watch the films. Not even the festival team. Every one was busy with the invited stars which was an event in hotel 30 minutes away from where the screenings were happening. Zero attention to the films and filmmakers. When try to confront the festival, I was ghosted. No reply on mail, text or in person. No feedback or conversation regarding films. Zero networking. An absolute waste.
