MISSION & BACKGROUND:
The Huntington Beach Cultural Film Festival was birthed out of a desire to highlight and celebrate cultural diversity. Culture is not just one's race, nationality, or heritage. Culture is also about one's way of life. We seek conversation-starting scripts and films that are thought-provoking, insightful, and help drive our theme of using the arts as a bridge to promote human dignity, which is an important element in building a better community.

Our script analysts are industry professionals who also read for top tier brands. With the guidance and insight of our screening committee, we identify top performing scripts and films!

Our festival highlights underrepresented stories and/or underrepresented storytellers. Specifically, we seek submissions in the following main categories: African American/Black/Caribbean; Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino/a/e, Students, LGBTQ+, disabled filmmakers or films highlighting the disabled community, films centering veterans and/or first responders, and local Huntington Beach filmmakers or films celebrating the "culture" of Huntington Beach - surfing, biking, ocean conservation.
