Hornet film festival is an event in London designed by filmmakers for filmmakers. It is our intention to create a platform whereby independent filmmakers and screenwriters can have their work screened for public audiences at competitive prices. The purpose of the festival is to strengthen the link between your hard work as indie filmmakers and the audiences out there who are looking for an alternative to the regular cinema experiences.
The event runs as a one-off festival where people can book tables, order food and drinks from the restaurant before the show starts. During the festival we screen 10 short films with a 15-minute Interval, before audience members each cast one vote each for best film. At the end of the night there is a short awards ceremony where 1st, 2nd and 3rd place are given their prizes, before there is a social event at the end of the night where people can meet fellow filmmakers and film lovers alike. The intention is to create an inclusive and diverse community around the event whereby filmmakers can collaborate on projects and can also develop their network.
At Hornet we accept all genres of film from documentary to animation and live action, however, we like to champion strong directorial visions and have a strong emphasis on storytelling and narrative.
The event has been designed in order to help project independent filmmakers' careers and as such we encourage you to invite as many friends, family and industry professionals to see your work play live.
The successful films will also be able to use this screening as a way of propelling their film into a more extensive festival strategies with the help of the attention and buzz created by Hornet Film Festival
