We don't make movies to make money, but we make movies to make others feel the emotions they left behind!
Hemaprabho Bhattacharyya (born 6th December 2009) is an Indian teen filmmaker from Durgapur, West Bengal. He is best known for his work in independent cinema, particularly for his film SRIJAN, and for his distinct creative focus on merging high-impact technology with humanist, cinematic storytelling. He currently serves as the Head of Media at DAV Model School, Durgapur, where he oversees the institution's press and media operations.
Bhattacharyya gained significant artistic recognition in early 2026 following the official selection and release of his landmark film, SRIJAN, at the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF). The project solidified his position as an emerging voice in contemporary youth cinema.
His global breakthrough arrived after competing in the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) Young Filmmakers’ Challenge. Standing out among a competitive pool of over 1,200 international entries, Bhattacharyya secured third place globally. This accolade was followed by formal invitations to showcase his work at several top-tier international film festivals throughout 2026.
Over the course of his artistic development, Bhattacharyya has received direct creative mentorship from prominent figures in Indian cinema, including acclaimed directors and actors Amole Gupte, Aamir Khan, and Farhan Akhtar.
In addition to his independent directorial pursuits, Bhattacharyya holds a prominent leadership role within his academic community.
