There are tons of stories in the American South, and you only need one of them to win during the Hayti 72-Hr. Film Contest!

Hayti Film is giving the chance for area African American filmmakers to show us what you got. Prizes include cash and career consultation. How will it work?

Registration opens on September 5th. Once the theme is announced at 11:59pm on September 22nd, you have 3 days to make and submit a short film based on the theme provided. Shoot, edit, then upload your winning film by 11:59pm on September 25th to claim the top prize.

This competition is open to any genre of film, and with a length of 4-6 minutes, this competition is very doable!

We’ll screen the top films and will announce the winner on October 6th. So let’s have some film fun!

1. Films must be directed by a person of African descent or one who otherwise identifies
as Black.
2. Registration fee: $25
3. There are no restrictions on the genre of film.
4. The Official Time Period for the production/post-production occurs between September 23 (12:00am) - 25 (11:59pm).
5. Film files should be uploaded no later than 11:59am EDT September 25th.
6. File specs: 1920 x 1080p h.264 and no larger than 10 GBs.
7. Total running time of film should be between 4 and 6 minutes, excluding credits.
8. No copyrighted images or music (unless you have the rights to use them).
9. Completed release forms should be uploaded.
10. The winning films will be screened on October 6th. All registered filmmakers will be invited to the October 6th screening & presentation.
11. When you upload the film, be sure to submit the logline.
12. Multiple submissions are allowed.
13. Open to residents of the American South only.
